I've switched my DH from the classic bola/spike traps to grenades and rapid fire. It's not as efficient all-around, but it does make taking down single targets more bearable.

I was able to get near 1000 AR on my DH. I used the IK helm and gloves, the boar companion, and perfectionist which all give boosts to your AR. It was great running with a barb who cast war cry and I'd be up over 1200 AR.

I got rid of a lot of that gear for more DPS though.

I usually had around 1100 AR with shout and mantra running and it was nice. Subsequently started dropping resists and armor for more dipis, maintaining a balance of maximum survivability for maximum damage. Playing that balancing game is always a fun challenge that continues to this day. ^^

You just need like 500 AR, double life steal and as much deeps as you can get. Stacking as much armor also helps.

you need about 40k health with 60%+ damage reduction from armor and resistance (so about 4800 armor, 550+ resist). this will prevent you from getting one-shot by the hard hitting monsters.

it feels really good when you have stuff drop and you know it will sell well. I've never had more than 90 million gold at anyone time and i got a string of crazy drops tonight. I now have 300k dps with(shout+zerker+overpower), I know that people have like 300k unbuffed but being able meet goals is awesome.

Found my second mempo of all time yesterday, and no cc again . 195 str, 60 vit, 58 dex, 9ias, etc. I wish that dex were cc

i just discovered the awesomeness of WD firebats build. only 96k paper dps and I crit for 1.5 mil.

I hit level 60 last week and now starting to progress in the Paragon Levels. My Barb is sitting at 53K HP and 59K DPS. I'm half through Hell on MP10 now (in Zoltan's Archives to revive him).

I (sadly) bought the Butcher hook and a nice 1H mace that I can't recall the name. Both legendary weapons. I think i'm gonna stop buying items off the AH and just farm the game.

I miss the days when the only means to upgrade you toon was to play the game.

Hujaz and I were able to carry MP10 ubers last night with 3rd player being dead most of time. Was quite fun and challenging.

I still haven't gotten around to try the ubers (other than 1 time on MP1 just messing around with 1 machine). If you die, does it let you back into the portal, and are they still at the same HP you got them down to before you died, or does it reset?

The good old days where the only way to get what you wanted was to devote weeks of playtime, so awesome

You don't have to use the AH, and I don't have to grind for a thousand hours. Everybody wins now.

If everyone leaves the 'room' they reset to full HP and you start over. The machine/portal isn't lost.

I'm enjoying my new build now. It's not as good as my previous one, but the variety is nice.

I went from a dual socket manticore to a single socket calamity. That dropped my dps from 275k to 250k or so, but the massive attack speed increase helps with discipline regeneration at the expense of increased hatred spend.

Rapid fire isn't bad, but they need to make it so it pierces more often.

With spike traps, I'd crit at about 800k-1M with each blast (1-2 per second or so) on every target in it's blast radius at a 50% CC.

With rapid fire, I crit around 200k to a smaller group, but at about 10 per second.

I miss it too. Gotta admit D3 hasn't nearly grabbed my time like D2 did just because of that fact.

The problem is, you can beat Hell without using the AH. That is about the extent of D2's difficulty, you didn't need to min max to be efficient. Most of the builds and gear people remember were not great, but since the difficulty was so low in D2 it didn't matter. Also, the drop rate in D3 is exponentially better than D2. But, I suppose more people don't remember what it was liking trying to actually find stuff before dupes.
