Wow, turned my 45 mil left over after my Mempo, sword, and gem purchases and am sitting around 350 mil now. Got a few great deals to flip and found a nice pair of pants that had 2 gems. Resold the pants for the amount it was without the gems and sold the gems for an extra 40 mil =)

Think I am going to grab some 6 crit lacunis if I can. Probably won't be able to find any with 80 str and vit like mine, but we'll see.

You are definitely playing the AH better than I do. I've gotten a couple of good deals, but I don['t do any flipping. I buy to use, and then re-sell later for less than I bought once I buy an upgrade.

That is what I usually do. I just happen to be looking for some wizard stuff and saw a ring that was insanely cheap (8mil, compared to the others at around 30mil) and I scooped it up and resold it extremely quickly for 25. Had some other good luck looking at pants upgrades. Found what would have been a side grade with gems, so grabbed em and sold them in an hour or two.

I played around with outbidding an item I had on the AH by bidding on it with another account, and it worked, but I don't think it was worth the trouble.

Someone had bid on it, so I out bid them by a decent amount, then they bid again. I did that 3 times and left it. I know, it's a bullshit way of getting more money out of people, but I just wanted to see if it would work. I won't be doing it again, I was just curious since I had heard of others doing this.

I don't think there's much duping. That's just price fluctuation and supply/demand rearing its ugly (or pretty) teeth.

There are dupes. You can confirm them on D3 progress multiple of the same items. It is just nowhere near as bad as it was for D2.

Made a CM wiz and I am really liking it. Waiting on chest and an amazing WH to finish in AH, but I can do MP10 crypts runs without chest or belt with no problems. Got some cheap-o rings and a steal on my Chantodo's Wand, so the build is pretty cheap so far. =)

Wow, gems have tanked in price. I scored what I thought was a deal on 50 radiant star emeralds (paid 17mil each) and was hoping I could flip them for at least 22mil. Prices are are like 18.5 now though. At least, I'll make some money off it. There might be a gem dupe out though. Saw a guy selling 500 on bnet forums.

Also, I ended up sniping a 4 crit 9 IAS mempo for my CM wizard. Paid just under 100mil for it. I was so happy! Then I had to buy an APOC Chantodo's Force and wasn't nearly as happy. Paid as much for that as I paid for the rest of my set. =(

Have been having luck flipping items because I've been getting some good snipes and reselling for slightly below normal prices. Hoping after this next patch, it will improve the economy since 1.08 should bring some people back.

Lots more item flipping luck, but very little actual drop luck. I did buy an incredibly expensive Chondo's Will though. 1152 DPS 0.24 APS and a socket. Cost me around 800mil. =( Now if I could only unload this 1000 DPS one I have for like 15mil, I might be a bit more happy.

And I think people are using gems as a way to buy gold for real money. They are under a dollar each on the RMAH and I think people are buying them up to sell for gold. Same people buying them are probably reselling them back to people for money. It is slightly above what gold sites are advertising if you work the math out, so I guess it is just a safer way to buy gold.

On vacation all week and out of town... I was hoping some more 1.08 news would come up, but none seems to have yet.

Most people are hoping 1.08 will be out this week. Thankfully, Blizzard hasn't committed to nerfing barbs. They've talking about possibly changing WotB - Thrive on Choas some, but any tweaks will probably just make you have to gain more fury to keep it up.

Ugh, whoever thinks barbs are OP really hasn't played a CM wizard. I spent about as much on my barb, and while I have less sheet DPS, I do MP10 faster and safer. I now have 2 characters with over 200k unbuffed dps and my monk is around 100k but I haven't spent much money on that character at all.

How's the game holding up as of today?
Didn't played for months...are the drops more cool and constant now?

The drop rate is vastly increased over the launch rates and legendaries are more plentiful, but getting those "good" items are still a crapshoot. Difficulty has been brought down as well. For someone just coming back, getting up to a decent enough level is very cheap because most of the items in the market for more geared players. High end items are still super expensive, but dropping in price as more and more are found. I remember the days when you wouldn't list a 6 crit Mempo on the AH because it was worth more than 2b easily, but I see at least one ever day I check now. Sometimes more than one.

They added ubers and actual good crafted items, so that helps a lot as well. The new patch (hopefully coming Tuesday) will encourage teamplay a lot more.

So, I seem to have run out of CotA friends. The ones that still play are PL100 or don't play enough to be consistent.

If anyone wants to farm, you can add me. I don't mind if you are under geared for MP10. If you are a monk, it would be amazing to have that sucking in ability because on my CM wiz I can perma freeze and you would be safe. Feel free to add me: ewok#1399

I may have to take you up on that offer. I've all but quit since most of everyone I used to play with never get on any more and running solo is just boring. I'm not really undergeared, but I'd have to swap out gear to be more survivable at MP10, since I maximized my DPS for solo MP5. Cyclone is my staple ability (everyone loves when I'm there because of it). It's basically the reason I love the monk. ^^

Since it's forecasted to be raining all this weekend and don't really have any plans, aside from Sunday evening, I should be on.

You play a barb too, right?

Also, I have about 10 machines I need to use for more chances at terrible HF ring rolls. I'm absolutely willing to supply. :)

I won't be on until Monday, but I'm up for CotA runs.

I've never really checked out gem prices closely, but I've heard many mention that a lot of times the sell prices are below cost of materials.

I setup a spreadsheet to calculate profits on crafting gems, and wow people are really selling them at a loss. I've only checked this morning, but I'm assuming this is the norm.

It looks like you can make a profit up to flawless stars (slight profit, only about 30k per gem) and then perfect gems sell for about 200k loss and radiant sell for about 500k- 1m loss each. Crazy.

What are you calculating as the cost of producing the gem? Is it just crafting cost or crafting cost + cost of lower level gems?

A lot of people farm gems and so get them for essentially zero cost.

I'm calculating from flawless squares up + crafting fees + tome cost, so I'm including the current market price of flawless squares in the calculations.

I guess since gems never get destroyed this will continue to occur though.

Yeah, it takes like 800 flawless squares, which takes forever to farm. I don't even know the tomes it takes. The gold alone is 16mil from flawless square to radiant square. On the AH, they sell for roughly 15% more than the cost, so crafting gems is a real wash unless you skip the AH and those are going for like 18.5, so not much of a profit.

Today most of the gems are being sold at a loss (taking into account current market cost of flawless squares, tomes, fees and ah cut), even the lower ones.

Probably because of the weekend, but it's definitely not worth crafting these things. You will make more selling the flawless squares at the current market price if you don't need them. Otherwise you are just throwing gold away.

Good to know before I started spending hours crafting hundreds of squares I've collected over the past few weeks.
