I still play here and there. This isn't an MMO that requires much time per day requried to play. I play an hour or so every few days. I Enjoy it, try the Ah. Then log off to another game. Which is like any other game I play, about 1-1.5 hours then onto another game.

I haven't quit yet but figure I will soon since I can't get passed act 1 of Inferno as I can't afford upgrades. I've been trying to farm act 1 but the items just suck... like last night for example, found a level 63 with 300 dps... thought 'that should ID well'... and it ID'ed to a 300 dps staff, lovely. Same with armor, why would anyone buy my level 63 piece with 200 armor on it! And my gear isn't terrible, upgrades would cost 2+ million for each which it weeks of farming unless I quit my job.

my upgrades are way out of reach, and yea i see no reason for level 52 drops in inferno
or ~200 dps items at level 60+ LOL.
i tried to bid on the AH but keep getting outbid, oh well.

You guys pretty much just described the exact problems I'm having.

I even spent $19 to buy 10 mill from the chinese thinking I could get enough good items with 10 million to get through inferno. Nope, didn't really help at all. Still can't even touch act 2 inferno although act 1 is mostly a breeze. Which is so weird.

Oh well I guess.

A2 is no problem for me at least. Went from OMG difficult from 26k dps and OMG NP 33k dps... I die here and there but it's still bearable.

Ditto. I haven't bought gold though.

Either I slowly accrue gold on easier levels or try for items in A1 inferno where my gold gains balance out my repair costs.

I haven't tried A2 yet.. A1 farming is a breeze though.

Anything better gear than what I currently have will cost millions though. I think I'm around 36k HP, 24k DPS, 600 LoH and 510ish resist on my monk.

Made $40 the other day farming Act 1 Inferno. Just gotta get lucky, that's all. Lower your hours of play if you feel the game is such a grind.

i wish i had your dps, i'm at ~11k dps
750 resist all buffed
40k hp
armor is at ~5k or so

yea pretty much pure luck, my friends have all gotten green and multiple legendary drops.
i haven't gotten jack yet and i play the same amount of time as them, pretty much anytime i'm not at work or sleeping LOL

I have, to about 0. I'll log on when I've really got nothing else to do, which isn't often. Normally I'll do an act 1 or 2 run and get pissed I get shit drops I might do a second run I might not then I'll log out for a week or 2. I know better than to try act 3 at all anymore or I'll die a few times and log...

I've still never had a set or legendary drop, any difficulty, closing in on 100 hours on wizard. I don't grind a lot, I've found a group of guys who do well together with me complementing and we run A2 and A3, depending on time, once or twice a day. I went on a streak though getting loads of good rare rings, and haven't found a thing for a while now. I generally hop on to another game after that, D3 gets too monotonous.

I thought I'd offer some advice on gearing (from a wizards perspective). The armor pieces that contribute least to DPS are boots, pants, belt, chest piece, and shoulders, so you generally want your damage stat, highest armor you can get, followed by resist and then vitality. Get as high a damage stat for the chest and pants as you can get with as many sockets, will boost your damage a lot. Get boots with 12% increased run speed.

Now, the other gear, such as gloves, bracers, rings, amulet, and helmet, can all offer +crit chance. Gloves, rings, and amulet offer +attack speed and +crit damage. These are all expensive items, and fortunately for me I've found most of what I use that has some combination of these stats, but none of my gear is something that couldn't be replaced. So again, +crit chance, +attack speed, damage attribute, high armor, +resist all, +crit damage, vitality for prioritizing. Weapons can have most of these stats.

The game has gotten so insanely boring. I am having a hard time pushing myself to play. And I know something is wrong when I have to push myself to play a game. The only thing I do now is farm items and sell for real money.... Id guess that is what most people are doing. But, for me, that is not enough to keep me entertained. I havnt quit yet, but I am going on 4 days now of not playing atm, other than listing items up on rmah.

You guys feeling the same way? Game got dull way too fast. It lacks what made D2 special in item finding and leveling.

Torchlight 2 out yet? 🙂

This game feels exactly like Diablo 2, play until you pretty much reach Pindle or Baal runs, do it over and over again with MF for rare items. The only difference now is I can actually sell some really good rares for USD without jumping through hoops and worry about scams.

I love the melee complaining while range considers it good if the first hit doesn't kill them.
I guess my rant makes me melee because that's the observation? Neat thing about this game is it's relatively easy to get to 60/inferno level. I have a wizard in inferno as well.

Range can make tougher build but generally chooses not to. Here's a melee wiz build designed to run with barb (for that armor/resist shout): http://www.diablo3wizard.com/news-and-updates/melee-wizard-build/

Was there anything particular incorrect with the rant? Do you think having a class design that requires better gear than other classes to function is acceptable?

I hate A2 with a passion. The open areas are wonderful for pulling a bunch of shit at once, very little LoS and worst of all. The mob types there are a bitch for ranged. Sand shark guys, Lacuni hunters that go immune and leap to you.

So much shit you simply can't avoid, it requires you to change your play style a bit. I had to change specs on my monk and wiz for A2.
