I will take you up on this offer. 124 dex, 25 vitality, 14% IAS, 11-22 Dmg (ring)

Seeing the similar items I can see why you priced it at $75, and that fits into the rest, but if I were looking for a ring like that I'd grab one with a bit less dmg for almost half the price. If I really wanted to sell it I'd try at $40, but there's no harm in trying for higher first. But I'd still be ready to drop it even lower

I cant believe you got anything for that, that seems pretty worthless to me. I'm gonna need to reassess how i'm looking at items

yeah thats what i say too... its a bit more of luck that someone sees your item

im sure i have in the AH items that are a better than that for 10 dollars, and they are not selling

THIS seems to be the key. Sheer volume of items makes it hard for your item to be simply seen in a lot of cases. Classic Google search syndrome.

It might have had some damage on it, I forget. But what with the ability to only search for three properties, as long as your item has three good stats (in this case str/vit/life%) then you have a good chance of being seen.

Also on the barb forum there's been some success stories of people stacking life % and simply trying to eat as much damage as possible rather going for mass amounts of mitigation, so that probably has made life % a bit more attractive lately.

honestly i would like to know why that item sold. what is so good about it? The life? The armor? I really would like to get together a list of stuff that will sell for each class.

edit: and magically, the answer to my question appears above me!

Armor on a ring is always a plus for a Barb. Plus 2 main stats. I could see why it would sell. And depending on what else was on the market I'm sure there are instances where "everything on here is 50 dollars BUT this one is on here for HALF the price. I have to grab that deal.." I wonder how that plays into it.

PSA - If you have any +exp gear +good primary stat it will sell relatively quickly. Instantly at 2-3k. I know people want the 500k - 1mil item but as long as stuff sells on the AH you are making money.

The whole "It might not be perfect but I might not find another like it" definitely plays into it. I feel like many of my sales occur within an hour or two of being first posted. I think having that "1d 12h" or "1d 11h" next to your item is very alluring because we've all run into those instances where we find something great and "This item is no longer available" so I think people are more aggressive about buying fast than before.

And yes, I think the main attraction to the ring was the 6% life along with "no bad stat" which gives kind of an illusion of a piece being better than it actually is in a way.

All in all, for most barbs that turns into a net gain of 300-400 armor, 5k+ health and a bit of a DPS bump in your ring. Not godly, but certainly useful.

Definitely agree that people overpay on the RMAH though.

Why it sells is one thing, why it sold for $22 is another. I sold about 10 items so far totaling about $200, half a dozen were rings and I honestly have no idea what about that ring made it go for $22.

I sold one ring for $25... I don't remember the exact stats but it had 15%IAS, 1xx dex, <50vit, protection from CC, and some str, might have also had some resist to poison.

we could make a completely different topic about pricing of items...

I think this is a great idea. A RMAH thread so that the game thread can stay focused on gameplay, strategy, builds, etc. The thread is become a bit too focused on the RMAH (because its brand new and exciting, i get that) for those of us that want to still talk about the game.

Bug Fixes
Tyrael no longer has collision when he is your active follower and his damage has been reduced
Pots of ashes in Act I and vases in Act IV will now drop less gold when destroyed
Resplendant chests will no longer spawn in the Underbridge
Fixed a bug where players could turn in the same quest repeatedly and always receive rewards as though they were completing the quest for the first time

Bastards

Tyrael is totally useless now.

When 1.03 hits, I'm going to go to act 2 inferno, summon 4 zombie dogs and a giant zombie, if they die in 3 seconds I'm logging out and probably done with d3. You you... until bordom sets in.

was he useful before?

he is human now but he is still fucking tyrael, he should have somewhat high damage 😛

He was crazy OP before lol.

People would clear trash on the bridge, die, and let tyrael solo the champions and elites with his 50k swings while laying there dead.

I highly support this idea. If someone else doesnt do it I may make the thread myself sometime. It would have to be a new thread though, we cant have this info buried in this current gigantic thread.

I haven't (can't) touch the RMAH yet, but for the regular gold AH, my strategy is to set a price ceiling, then look at the stats. Even if the item is good, but not "worth" the price, I get it because the alternatives aren't better and it's within my budget.

...For real money, my budget would be $5 or less. $22? Shit.

Edit:

Forgot to ask something about the RMAH. So, when you use SMS protect, how "intrusive" are the text messages?

My impression is that for each and every item you sell, you have to get a text confirmation and type in a confirmation code into the game/battle.net. I ask because I'm thinking about using a sibling's phone and giving a cut. Me switching carriers is too annoying and it'd take too long to break even - not worth it.

I dunno, when I put up my first listing with paypal option, I got I think a text message with a 10 digit code. I didn't get anymore after that for subsequent listings. I thought I was going to be getting one text/listing which would suck cuz I dont' pay for unlimited texts.
