D3 doesn’t use the authenticator does it? curious as to why. im pretty sure i had to enter it for SC2 randomly on login in, only think i had to do it for D3 on the install

Beat Hell mode Diablo last night with friends on our 2nd try. Was suprised was not to bad other then phase 2 with the shadow spawns. Chain stuns help with those with the DH.

They changed it a bit, you only have to enter it once a week now i think, unless you login from a different IP.

There's a million rumors of "hacks" floating around but I don't believe any of them have actually been verified. Supposedly there's some method where someone can join your game, boot you out and take control of your character but it's basically a huge "he said she said" clusterfuck. Personally I would guess that the majority of people getting hacked are the same people that get hacked in any other game; the ones that blindly click "yes" and install garbage on their PC.

except it's not. People with authenticators have gotten hacked. All they need is your battlenet ID, that's it.

WoW requires you to enter it about once a week. It's been a week, which means we may have to enter it tonight or soon after.

Was having fun getting 2k amulets and rings last night before the maintenance.. Didn't get a chance to re-list the ones I didn't want though. I just set the filter to like 5k and buy cheap ones to flip. Probably not the most efficient way to make money but I'm only level 15 still..

well...im not expecting a fully summoner necromancer, but to play like a wizard i would have chosen a wizard 😛

i know the summons should be a line of defense, but upto now the zombie dogs die TOO fast, dont hold a line of defense. and the CD to cast them again is damn long

anyway, do they catch up later with a rune or something or they are garbage and i could better use the PRECIOUS hotkey for another skill?

I can't say if they get better later on (I'm also level 17), but I find them pretty useless unless you're going to blow them up. I'd rather use grasping hands for defense and then just soul drain and start blasting with spells. Maybe they're more viable later on when you get more summons, but to me they were really lackluster, they do really low damage and die really easily. Spiders I found to be ok, they do alright damage if you're buffed with soul drain, but I prefer to play my wd like a spellslinger it feels more effective. I just use grasping hands for defense and mostly flaming bats with the dire bat rune for offense with some haunt or soul barrage mixed in.

Well, if your gear/etc is good enough, then I'm sure you can ignore the pools altogether. But running to a clear spot til the pools go away pretty much guarantees an easy win. It doesn't even increase the length of the battle all that much.

So there is something hitting me for like 6k+ at some point in the fight. Is it the fireball things? Do they come from him/can I dodge them? I get him to like 50%, start running away from pools and something just wrecks me.

How do you know? Like I said, it's a bunch of he said she said. Have you seen the number of angry nerds bombing the review sites? It takes zero effort to post "I got hacked and I have an authenticator" and it's more beneficial to you to do so; you generate sympathy and pass blame. There's simply a mass of conflicting reports.

I've always heard second hand stories about people with authenticators getting hacked, but I don't feel like I've seen any confirmed cases.

Apparently the way people with authenticators and everyone else for that matter are getting "hacked" in D3 is if you play a public game people can see your session ID# and spoof it letting them go into that session as if they were you on your account. So it by passes even having to log in.

Hmm that's odd its once a week for me, i have not had to put it again yet. Bought a second account and put the mobile phone one on it.

there is an option to prompt you for it every time. it takes like 5 seconds, and i consider it worth it.

Go to the D3 forums and look at the blue posts at the top of the page, the very first one is 8 hours old and blizzard saying they are not seeing any "hacking" beyond the normal they steal your PW and log onto your account. In addition to one 12 hours old essentially stating the same thing.

For the love of god, stop spreading the disinformation. Until either blizzard posts the existence of such an exploit, or a trusted 3rd party does, stop speculating on "how it could be done". You're description of how it is done is equivalent to how a patent troll describes his super secret patented idea.

I don't really see what it's necesarry to use it everytime, if i log in from a different IP it will ask me if not its good for a week.

WoW account has never been hacked and had a authenicator since day one.

That's great! You got a link? Because this is pretty much the only thing standing between me getting the game or waiting a few patches.

I can't link directly to the post, but it's the second post from another Blue in that thread is where they said that nobody with authenticator is confirmed to be compromised. I think you can just click on the 'next Blizzard post' to the right side, but I'm not logged in right now so I couldn't do it and it's buried in page 40 or 50-something.

as i said.... *i* consider it worth my time. 5 seconds to enter a number is not that big of a deal to me. apparently it is to you. to each his own. 😉

Ok thanks, can't look at this at work but will dig through it later!
