What you're describing is the reason why playing the Torchlight II beta earlier felt like a lot more of a rewarding experience. It was ridiculously rare for me to find an item in D3 that I would actually use. I ended up buying most of my gear off the AH, because my drops were typically junk. By the time I stopped playing TL2 (after about 2 hours), I think I swapped my weapons out about 8 to 10 times already.

It feels like a Diablo game to me...just a different and not quite finished Diablo game. In some ways they did some really awesome things, but truly the items suck from being so boring. I'm enjoying the game and will for some time, so I don't regret the purchase. But I really hope they do something with the item system come expansion time.

Ugh, the auction house is really grating tonight. I tried to win an auction for an amulet with +damage on it multiple times, and it kept timing out each time. I search again and it's gone... along with all other +damage ones.

seriously guys, how do you know about appropriate "buy it now" prices in the AH?
Are people just putting in random numbers?

Judge according to what is up there to what you have. Ignore obviously retarded high prices and any real low ball ones as they will be ignore/bought anyways.

With that belt I sold for example. When I checked the AH, there was 7 other belts that had 100+ int and 50+ vit (the 2 stats I searched for) in the level range of rares when I searched. Three of those 7 were 2-5+ so I auto ignored them and looked at the other 4. One out of the other 4 was close to what mine was and was priced at 170k, mine was better (had a socket and a little bit higher stats) so I tossed it up for 190k in the ball park so when someone judges mine and the other one they will see a 20k difference for a still much better belt. The other 2 belts were crap stats and had prices in the 120-140k range.

Being an AH/market whore from MMO's I can quickly figure a good idea of what I should sell an item for so some of it is a bit skill in being able to filter and know how to judge peoples buying habits.

Considering I've got more than 23k hp at 52 you're probably right. As far as damage resist, are you talking about physical resistance or armor or both?

Id say 40k health is enough give or take, and Im talking about element and physical resistance. Armor can help and shield is always useful if you find a stupid elite combos like: mortar freeze jailer teleport. Remember your diamond skin is based on your max health. I wish it scaled like it did in normal, 2x your health with 40k /drool

The loot gods are smiling on me tonight. Got a nearly perfect amulet rare 😀 80+ str and 120+ vit and a socket, oh yes, bank once again!

Though I wish it was a good DH amulet instead heh

Skill system and combat are awesome. Balancing, forced plot elements and itemization is bleh.

love this game so far.. just wish the AH was a little more user friendly and could save search settings or SOMethin. Or maybe im just bein stupid..

more than 3 attributes to do a search filter would be nice, but I think it's apparent that Blizzard designed Diablo 3 for children to understand in terms of UI and story.

I think they're updating something, there's a maintenance starting as I type this. They expect it to last nearly eight hours, from 1:00am PDT, to 9:00am PDT. At least they give a system warning 15 minutes before they start it. I had just enough time to clear a crypt I found in Act I (Nightmare), gained a lot of experience and two nice rares.

I also tried the Auction House just to buy some Gems a few hours ago, damn it was a pain in the ass, most of my purchases took multiple tries, preceded by time outs and errors with all sorts of numbers. I'm not sure but I think that their maintenance will be followed by an actual game update, perhaps related to the Auction House.

Finished the game on normal with my monk, like most people, at lvl31. Way too easy with monk, didn't die once, pretty much just jump in click click click, use a few skills, and every mob dies, including the last boss.

The game is way short, in ~3 hrs last night I ran through half of act 3 and entire act 4. The entire game is probably less than 10 hrs.

Find it strange that there are very few side quests, just a few journals you can pickup, and maybe a couple can't miss quest that takes 1 minute to do along the way to complete the main quest. From the story point of view, D3 is really shallow. Also the skills, not sure what's the point since you get all the skill as you level anyway, it's just a matter which mouse button you assign to. As character development, since you don't choose attribute, you don't chose any skill tree, seems like the only thing that matters is the gear you have and which attribute the gear boost.

Definitely good action game, but not really deep on RPG component. (Is D3 even classified as an RPG?)

It's timing out because it had already been purchased and there's still too many people using it for it to update quick enough. Usually if you search again after a timeout, you'll find the item now says "Sold" instead of having a price. It will take a couple more minutes to leave completely if it's during a busy time. I'll search for something with very specific search parameters and by the time I look through a couple of pages, chances are the item I decide to buy has already been bought because I'm taking too long. If I try to buy something and it times out twice, I move along.

Advantage of a region-wide AH is there are tons of items and great prices. Disadvantage of a region-wide AH is you have to be extremely quick and lucky to find a great deal.

Haha, so what would a game designed for adults have...5 searchable attributes?

Hell at least 4 would be nice. 5 would be great. Rares can have up to 6 attributes, why restrict me to only searching half of them?

Also I'm really missing jewels and runes. It seems items are almost a step back from D2. It also seems that the few items that do modify a skill are completely worthless. YAY 2 seconds off a 60 sec recast.

I did get lvl 54 in my WD yesterday, bought a new weapon, and went from 3k dps to 5k dps. Definately makes a difference. I also got my MF up to 71%. I'm going to try to get that over 100% by the end of the weekend. As it is right now, gold items drop all the time, unfortunately half of them are complete crap.

By the way, do we know if Magic Find bonuses on items you give to the Follower stacks with the MF bonuses on our characters? It did, in Diablo II, although for the hireling's MF bonuses to "apply" as stacked on top of what your characters' own MF (in D2) the hireling had to do the killing blow. That's what I always heard, and read on forums, but I've never seen that information actually confirmed by Blizzard, ever. Again, not sure if that's the case in Diablo III so far.

Diablo 3 is a game for children and morons. Playing the free starter edition bored me to death. I was a big fan of D1 and less of a fan of D2, but D3 is just totally crap. Controls are funky, no customization, graphics suck, gameplay sucks, abilities suck, voiceovers suck, and the game is short, repetitive, and boring. Path of Exile is a much better game, and free. Torchlight 2 is probably an even better game than PoE but for the cartoonish graphics. That people actually defend Diablo III makes it pretty clear why the world is so screwed up: these people actually have the right to VOTE.
