brother and i went through the entire beta (it was his first time, i was in the beta for months), and it was just awesome.

the monk is definitely the right class for me - melee that can also heal and use mantras/auras.

I'm getting error 3003 all the time... The whole of yesterday and today. Tried it a bit with the barbarian and finished the beta on Friday - wanted to check out crafting... seems I won't be able to.

Oh well, since no pre-order bonus, no point in pre-ordering. I'll just wait for reviews and YT vids.

I've been trying to get in since Saturday morning and get either servers are busy when I try to log in or error 3003 if i go to play the game.

I guess the stress test is failing, huh?

If I'll be greeted with errors when the game is out when I want to play single player... that will be... disappointing, to say the least. Still can't connect at all (3003).

Then they aren't very bright. Anyone could have written them a script or simple utility to spam the servers with login requests. All they're doing now is pissing off potential customers.

You have apparently never worked in software QA....

i think im gonna start the game with the monk and wizard
those 2 seem to do the best for me

however i cant join any friends or start a game right now even tho i just beat it again with he wizard cmon wtffffffff 😀

I was able to play fine from afternoon to late night yesterday and also a few hours this morning.

So now no one has to commit to a skill tree? I wonder how that will effect the game.

From the beta at least, gold find will be pretty essential, i.e., gold will actually be worth something due to how the crafting has been designed.

How does muling work now? If you have enough gold, you can buy more and more stash space?

Also, the "+MF" attribute drop rate has increased from D2, i.e., I'm finding a lot of blue items with "+MF" attribute. Rares seem rarer, or are they even present in the beta? Normally bosses like Leoric are guaranteed a rare drop.

I think I'm going to go wizard. Seemed the most satisfying to me when I was going through the beta. Kind of disappointing that the witch doctor wasn't fun to me; necro was my favorite in D2.

I'll probably go with the DH. Maybe it's just that the Wizard was the first class I tried and that there was so much lag at first that really turned me off from the class, but the DH just felt a lot more fun. I can see that the Wizard will get better at later levels, but I was kind of disappointed with the early skills.

I completely agree about the WD, though. Maybe we both wanted him to be another Necromancer, but obviously that's not going to be the case so he can't live up to our expectations.

Both the Barbarian and the Monk were a lot of fun to play though.

Successfully joined a friend's game to play some co-op. Except for the occasional lag spikes everything seemed to work just fine. This was someone on the other side of the globe from me too.

Can we play single player (re-run skeleton king for xp/gold/loot, for instance) after we've completed all the beta quests?

Yep sure can.

Yes. A single player game is just a multiplayer game closed to others.

I am curious as to how many FPS you folks are getting. I have a 2011 base model Mac mini and I am getting about 15-16 FPS average.

The thing that worries me is that it uses 125% CPU (100% of 1 core and 25% of the second core, so minimal I'll probably need a quad-core processor and better graphics to run it at my standards).

Hit CTRL+R. As a note, it seems to be the same command that Blizzard uses in other games since World of Warcraft uses the same command.

My PC is far more powerful than the one you list, so I max out at the high FPS cap (the slider that's in the graphics option page) of ~144 FPS.

Well I've "finished" the beta on barb, demon hunter and wizard. Game is fun but IDK, seems likely that it will get boring faster than D2. It'll be a 'wait til its on sale' purchase for me.

I have found several rares. Even had the skeleton king drop two rares at once for me one time.

I see a reasonable amount of microstutter in the game, but D3D overrider seems to fix that just handily. Shame the servers have been up and down, but after playing through twice I think I have played my fill. The desire to play I had on Friday has slowly been beaten out of me.

One more char to 13, and I'll have all the beta achievements... yay?

I'm liking the game more and more as I play, but it is a real downer running the skele king over and over.

Kind of screwed up, and spent gold on the stash, when I hear you can craft rares at artisan level (level over the achievement). Need 21k gold, but don't know if I'll end up trying that or not once my lvl 11 WD hits 13.

If you are only using 125% CPU, a quad core is not going to do anything for you.

You have an HD3000, which can run the game at lower resolutions fine. You just need to turn everything to minimum, turn off shadows, and then hit the checkbox for "Low FX" which makes a HUGE difference in speed. But if you are running it at a high resolution, thats your biggest issue. I tried it at 1280x1024 and it ran very smooth (like 60fps smooth). And it was pretty playable at 768P as well.

I am running it at 1366x768 and I want to play it at higher resolutions though am obviously aware of the HD3000's limitations.

To my knowledge, X-Chat Azure does not use up that many resources so if I still have 75% of the other core free. Why can I not command+tab and talk to my friends on IRC let's say? Wouldn't a quad-core help me in that aspect?

So I had time to play with a Wizard, Monk and Demon Hunter this weekend. While it is kind of fun, I'm dismayed at the lack of a skill tree. Unless some other kind of skill progression opens up later in the game, it seems to me that's there absolutely no reason to create more than one character of each class, and that every character is completely generic outside of their equipment.
