There is an item in 2.1 to add a socket to weapons giving you 4 mainstats and a socket. I'm holding on to a few weapons that this will work out for. No idea how rare this drop will be.

Played a while last night and got my (first ever) Shard of Hate. I was ecstatic when I saw the notification for the transmorg...until I looked at the stats.

It's around 1960dmg, 1000-1200 cold damage, int, vit, +dmg to elites.

I was terribly disappointed, linked it in General chat and saw that I had been crapped on by RNGesus. But then I received a few whispers saying to save it for 2.1 and to 'reroll damage' then. Anyone know what this refers to? Will we be able to reroll damage in 2.1? And even if that's the case, I'd need to reroll vit or something to a socket for +130% crit damage. So unless in 2.1 we can reroll damage in addition to one of the other stats on the weapon, looks like my Shard is garbage.

Any ideas?

In patch 2.1, there will be a thing called ramalad's gift (not sure of spelling) which adds a socket to a weapon. Thus, you won't have to spend time rolling for a socket and can use your enchant for something else, like re-rolling the 1200 cold damage to something better or reroll the VIT to +dmg%.

The best part about this item is that if you already have rolled a socket, you can simply reroll it to something else.

Ramalandi's Gift.... just looked into it thanks.

Ramalandi

Indalamar, spelled backwords.

A warrior in WoW original closed beta, from the guild Nerfed. He got the warrior class changed (nerfed) during the last months of beta, by showing how strong the class is while everyone else was claiming warriors were terrible and worthless. I think he is now a Blizzard employee.

Not exactly backwards, but close

Exactly. If your weapon came with a socket slot, and you rerolled it for something else, the item mentioned before will still add a socket, and what you rerolled before can be rerolled again.

Still a bit bitter that my Shard of Hate had such a craptastic roll, but at least I found one. Still looking for a Velvet Camaral, the Winter Flurry source, etc. Maybe I should roll a WD, and never look back :hmm:

What just happened?

Anyways, I was just coming in to talk about gear disparity from power leveling on RiF. I'm getting a DH up to 70 nice and fast, and since I'm leveling so quickly, my gear isn't progressing with me. It's hardly a major issue, and I'll probably do the same with my monk that's been at 50 forever now.

And why in the world do gloves and bracers have a ridiculous material requirement to craft?

Perhaps I am misunderstanding how the ramalandi's gift works, but let's take my current TF for example.

It comes with a socket naturally. Because of that, I re-rolled my VIT on it into 10% damage.

When 2.1 comes out, if I find a R-gift, it is useless for me because my weapon already has a socket on it that I didn't need to re-roll for. I can't roll that socket into something else because I already used my enchant to change VIT->10% dmg.

Am I missing something here or not understanding it fully?

You're right Shfifty. Most people will be able to reroll their socket to something else, then use the gift to get a guaranteed socket. I don't believe you'll be able to do the same.

That is correct. You would have had to reroll the socket to 10% damage. So, it is really only good for weapons you find without a socket normally.

In that specific use-case, you are correct.

But if you do find that item, you won't want your weapon to roll a socket naturally, because the item will add a socket regardless. So you could get a weapon with +main, +dmg, +elemental, +attack speed or crit damage or whatever, and still put a socket on it. It adds another primary slot to put the socket in.

Ok thanks for the confirmation. I thought that was how it works. It sucks that my TF will be secondary class, but I guess with seasons/ladders, I'll be starting over from scratch anyways.

I think TallBill and Aristotelian misread "and you re-rolled something else" as "and you re-rolled the socket into something else".

In HC I went from lvl 0 to lvl 70 and I did find that gear upgrades crapped out at about lvl 55 and only picked up again at 70, that was doing it the "blizzard" way of playing through the campaign on Master all the way. It took just a few days to gear my Wiz for Cold (Light of Grace, Azurewrath, Frostburns & if I want to use it a Thunderfury. So it's not just a RiF lvling issue but a general one that Blizzard creating by having a big ramp up in stats.

I know the Legendary Bracers cost is dropping from 120 blue mats to 70 but dunno about gloves.

The new socket for weapons will render the very nice Maximus I found about worthless as I rolled the secondary to life after kill.

It had high damage, high strength, 20% fire and a socket.

I have been kicked out of many public games lately. I join and because I don't want to do Act 1 bounties, I get kicked. I go to Act 5 looking for events that require co-op for achievements.

In one game, a guy was proceeding to tell me off, which I asked him if this was a public game and he said yes. I told him if he wanted everyone in a game to do Act 1 bounties that he needed to make a private game.

What's your bnet name? I'm always down for achievements whether or not I have them. I'm #2 in the AT clan and am closing in on #1

Adrenaline#1529

I am sitting at 6220 achievement points right now. I need to do the HC ones when I have a more stable connection. My HC Barb is level 61.

I got the 2 billion healing with the Monk in one sitting yesterday, that was boring.

That does actually suck. Rare case but ouch.
