I don't think it's Comcast. I got shitty speeds when I downloaded it too and I'm with another ISP. Must be Blizzard's client.

The Diablo III server could be getting hammered, but in my case, I wouldn't know. My speeds are just abysmal all around (between 100KB/s and 250KB/s).

I was just checking my bnet account for something else, and noticed the D3 beta was active for me. Never received an email about it though.

Hmmm... maybe I should check my b-net account... my friends have been hounding me to start up Diablo 3 and join their group...

Argh, why does Comcast have to be screwed up! :| Downloading 3GB at 100k/s is way past uncool.

I think I got it through opt-in. I did sign up through Facebook as well, but I think that was another e-mail address.

I started D/Ling last night from TX around 10pm and I was getting 1.20 mb/s avg. D/Led the entire 4 or 5 gb of data.

Diablo 3 beta is only through blizzard invites only right now. So even if you create a b.net account, doesn't mean you can play w/ your friends (assuming they are in the beta right now).

However, the only way to get a beta invite is if you have a b.net account set up and update your beta profile settings.

Or entered their Facebook Beta Key sweepstakes

Does anyone else have issues with the game freezing up for maybe a second at the most at times? I'll go to strike a mob (on a Monk) and the game just pauses. It acts like I'm on some shitty, old computer. :|

All my friends are hunting me to join their Diablo group 😛. But from the trailers i feel that something is missing

I like how they incorporated some aspects/functionality of WoW into D3.

Things like crafting feels similar to WoW where you train your crafting level and then more craftable items are available.

You have your "hearthstone" on your character.

Very fluid/smooth game. Lots of details involved without it bogging down the game or your system.

So I got into the Beta. I actually hated the first two Diablo games, and had no real interest in D3, but since I got in I figured I would take it for a spin.

I have to say, this one is not so bad. I still see the game as I would mobile games (aka timewasters), but it does that job very well. Got my Wizard and Demon Hunter up to level 10. I don't know if I'm ever going to play Barbarian, I like magic and ranged combat too much.

Edit: Err, actually, I can't seem to continue playing with my two heroes that have already beaten the beta. Is this normal?

Edit 2: Nope, not normal. It's a known bug that has been plaguing the playerbase as of late. Waiting for a fix...

And they're apparently going to change the WoW talent system to something more like D3... Eventually they'll be the same F2P game and they'll have a new MMO. I'm just patiently waiting for release since I've had no luck getting into the beta.

I was able to play them after killing the Skeleton King, but you have to start the character over from a certain quest point.

Played through the wizard first. Bit tough at first before you get a second abillity. Working warrior now, from the videos thought he'd be my favorite, but not liking melee nearly as much as ranged right now.

Yeah I realize that now, but I can't start a game or join one, or even create a new hero. It's ERROR_24000 all over the place. Apparently I'm not the only one either. Oh well, it is a beta after all...

The wizard starts off slow, and then like you said once you get a few more skills it's stupid easy. Fun as hell though.

I liked the idea of the Demon Hunter but the actual game play left a lot to be desired, at least for the early beta levels.

I prefer the DH to the wizard. It also starts off slow, since you start off with a weak 1-hand xbow, and just a basic damage ability. All the intial abilities are based on weapon damage or are avoidance abilities, so until you get a good 2-hand bow or xbow, the game is a little tough, but after you get a better weapon, it gets a lot easier. I'm not sure how dual-wielding 1-hand xbows is supposed to work, but it didn't seem as effective as a high damage 2-hander.

My second choice would probably be the WD, only because I like summoning so much (and who doesn't love undead wolves?)

I found the DH easier at the early levels compared to the wizard. It wasn't that DH was harder.. just seemed like their skills were boring. And I could completely disregard Discipline as a resource since it's primarily used for defensive skills and I was never in any danger of dying anyways.
