I agree about the AH, it's more just grinding for gold instead of items than spend hours on AH

Here's something I noticed about the AH:

1. Blizzard has complete control over the system
2. We can never see who buys or sell the items, all we see is the price and the goods

Connect the dots together:

Blizzard can play foul by creating items out of thin air to sell for $$$ with absolutely no possibility of detection. It wouldn't be a dependable revenue stream like WoW subscriptions, but one cannot deny the potential of abuse is already there.

So I had a group of people all decline on the butcher in hardcore mode and wait to see if I died... lol the butcher is so easy. It was a little annoying with how long it took though.

Well, my account was compromised and Blizzard are blaming me for being phished or having a virus/trojan. Considering a scan came up completely clean, my Bnet password is unique and only used on Bnet I fail to see how they can be correct in this instance.

They've agreed to roll me back, how far I don't know...

Over the past 48 hours I've found ~7 Legendary/Set items in Act 1 Inferno with my Level 60 Witch Doctor and 269% Magic Find with Nephalem Valour. He's been stripped clean, as well as my Stash.

Password changed, downloading Battle.net Mobile Authenticator, crossing fingers that I don't lose too much.

Ugh, all this talk of compromised accounts is making me nervous. Been out of town for a little over a week. Starting to get a little afraid of what I might come back to.

Keep in mind, Blizz saves the database often so the worst thing that would happen is you have to submit a ticket and wait maybe a week or two to get your account rolled back to the last save date. At least youd get all your stuff back to where it was to a degree.

So in the end theres not much to worry about other than the hassle of doing it.

And since someone pointed out they have literally like thousands upon thousands of support tickets in right now, it could take a few weeks or more before they got to your ticket.

In regards to the whole hacked accounts thing, I really have no idea what to say about it. It seems odd that all these people are losing accounts who claim not to not have done anything abnormal to compromise their info. There is a plethora of people on the bnet forums who said theyve been hacked out of thin air. To me to sounds like there is some exploit to gain access.

You're crazy if you think they would shadily do that. No way

I've had pretty good luck with the AH so far. According to the game I've picked up just under 400k in gold. With buying and selling in the AH I turned about 80k into over a million plus about 400k in merchandice along with unlocking all the inventory slots. Most of the money I've made has been buying and selling making maybe a 30% profit. A couple of times I got really lucky and have bought ultra expensive items for cheap. My best buy was a Vodoo mask for $25k which I then sold for $342k net.

I'm guessing part of the success I've had is due to the auction house being wonky at times plus the game not being out that long. Due to that I think that there's more demand than supply and wouldn't be surprised to see that change in a month with items selling for half of what they're going for now.

This is exactly what I expect. Best items could possibly be directly from Blizzard. You're paying to win and you don't even know it. :sneaky:

Took me less than 2 hours to get a rollback.

I've lost maybe 2 days of work/AH'ing. Walked into a game with a friend helping him in Hell and pick up a Legendary item, Stone Gauntlets.

Also using my phone as an Authenticator now.

You scared me into getting one...lol

so far everyone getting hacked, including the people in this thread, have NOT had authenticators, right?

sorry, but if you dont have an authenticator by now...

sucks for sure, but i dont understand why you are getting mad at blizzard.

Why should I have one?

I don't play any other Blizzard games. I should not need one.

i dont like salmon.

see? they are the same. it has nothing to do with me needing an authenticator to play an online game.
You may not play other blizzard games, but you play this one. You are right, in a world where people are honest and trustworthy, you wouldnt need an authenticator. but here in the real world, ya kinda do.

like i said, it completely sucks you got hacked, and im sorry you lost stuff and had to go through all that. im sure it was all a huge pain in the ass. it's not blizzard's 'fault' tho.

any real use for 2h bow/xbow other than giving to scoundrel?

and don't recall who was playing the DH but getting a steady supply of rares for other classes, but my DH has almost a full set of low level rares ready for him, including 3 1h crossbows.

and the AH does suck when you can't even do a simple search by item name.

Anyone else kind of meh'ed out by D3 already? I'm only in A3 NM but kind of don't care about the game any more. You never find good loot drops, all you do is farm for money to spend on the AH. And from what I hear the difficulty ramps are so insane in hell & infeno that there is no gear or skill involved at those levels, it's just a matter of corpse-running through the levels which doesn't sound like fun at all.

I've only seen a few legendary items, but so far I'm pretty disappointed with them. At least I am when I would expect them to at least carry over some of the similarities/uniqueness that uniques had in Diablo 2. Where are the cool, unique modifiers? The few legendaries I've seen seem to be just even more powerful rares, but that's just like turning the volume up a few more notches, instead of incorporating something truly "legendary" about the item in question.

Anyone figure out some good key words to look for when skimming for Rares?

I typically (lvl 45 monk) set me search to :RARE, Under 40k, +100 vit min +20 dex.

Usually finds interesting items.

However, is there like a few buzz words to look for, like..all items called "DIRE" are going to be pretty awesome?

The adjectives to look for..and the levels of the adjecting..wounding...damaging etc?

I have not been hacked and had not been using an authenticator... until now. 😀

yeah... I beat normal mode and I'm not sure if I'll load it up again.

if I want to go achievement hunting or item grinding, I may as well just log into World of Warcraft.

Legendary items are a joke.

The first I found in A1 Inferno from a barrel - a 381 dps crossbow. The second in A2 Inferno (from a barrel again) - a 420something dps crossbow.

Now both of those wouldn't be bad to use around level 30-40, but they both require lvl 55+ (think one is 59). 381 dps at 55 is retarded.

But... since they have random mods, if you found one with those two mods being + damage and + main stat, they might be viable... I wonder how many of the same item you'd have to find to get that though.

This is the way to go. I'm over 7 million with a few more million in backed up items

I just dont understand the legendaries if they arent as good as a good rare. Not impressed with them, and they arent nearly as rare as they should be. Wow they look cool and may have an ability mod in them, so special 🙄

it's the few random magic properties on a Legendary that make them 98% bad, 1% ok, 1% extremely good

Legendary supply is obviously much less than the magic/rare supply so there's going to be less opportunities to roll godly stats on a Legendary item, but I think some Legendaries can become the best item in a game if it manages to roll amazing magic properties
