Well there you have it! You can always hope for an expansion 🙂

Barbarian will be the only returning class

Games Convention 08

Wilson says that there are absolutely no plans to bring back any other classes in the initial release, but, given that Blizzard wasn't breaking any news at Games Convention, wouldn't dish any details on what the remaining three classes will be.
Jay Wilson is new at Blizzard, and is the Lead Designer of Diablo 3.

i just found this out seeing a interview with jay wilson - he was the lead design for CoH and DoW, homeworld 2, and others. with a history like that, i think diablo3 is in damned good hands.

Update on Blizzard's Diablo 3 site. Another character class is posted, the Wizard. Looks like a sorceress with some nifty lookin' armor bits.

yea its bacicially a Sorc, pure magic based caster class, it was playable at blizcon IIRC

Yeah, I knew they'd have a character like that but it seems Blizzard must change the name of said character for every Diablo game.

Err, the wizard was announced 3 weeks ago at Blizzcon...

A rather lackluster announcement at that 😛. I wonder if Blizzard simply has too many conventions now? Well, they only have two, but for one company that really only has 3 games going on right now... there's not much more to add than revealing their hidden MMO project. I think the whole Starcraft Trilogy would've been a better announcement than a new class in Diablo III. Although, announcing the new class probably would've made more sense if done early on for people that were going to play it.

Still kinda wish I would've played as the Wizard rather than the crappy Barb.

Well, the Wiz is near useless against monsters with magic immunity so the Barb aint so bad.

ive been wondering about this game. whats the status or the current rumors? I was pissed when they announced some tribal retard class to take the place of the necromancer.

Has Blizzard actually confirmed that BNet will be free? While I am excited over both SC2 and D3, I won't buy either if I have to pay to play.

Why is it so WoW in appearance D:

I hope they graphics change. I hated the original graphical design presented with SC2, but, after watching recent videos, I have to say it's changed for the better. I hope the same happens with Diablo 3.

The new UI is looking very good imo. As I find myself currently bored with the multitude of games I own, I do believe I would trade all of the game developers outside of blizzard for just 2 that are on the same level as blizzard. One wouldn't really be enough to provide year to year gaming, and 3 would be greedy. I think 2 is fair, and I'd do it in a heartbeat. Anyways, the game will certainly be playable again at blizzcon in august, if anyone wants to pay for my plane ticket I'll post up a through review on here in exchange. I will dress up as any blizzard character you choose as well.

Amen to that. I feel the same way.

i think they'd alienate waaaaaaaay too many people if they made it p2p. even a small game like infantry online, went from pretty busy to ghosttown after p2p was implemented.

I got the same feeling from the videos I've seen. I guess making it appeal and safe for some kids is what they are shooting for. That brings them in more cash.
