It's Diablo 3. A second image now follows and a Hel Rune is seen. The first rune was a Shael Rune. Both runes are from Diablo 2.

I guess if you add this bit of knowledge to the fact that wee just got a new D2 patch and a ladder reset, we're going to get D3 finally. 😀 I'm with everyone though, I don't want an MMO... mostly because I don't feel like paying the monthly.

top right of center is Hel, left of center is Shael.

i actually think he's right now. i still wish it were more SC2 stuff, but D3 is more crack for this blizzard junkie 😛
 
Its the WoW Expansion guys, not Diablo 3. God willing, there will never be another Diablo title. The market is flooded with mindless action games already.

It's not the WoW expansion, they never do these teaser screens for things that are already announced. I'm certain it's Diablo related because those are definitely D2 runes in the picture.
 
I don't think Blizzard would make D3 an mmo. It's setting would be way too much like WoW. Both games are in a fantasy setting (albeit very different overall) and the games wouldn't be different enough.

The announcement is set to take place at the Blizzard worldwide invitational in Paris this weekend, which just happens to be the anniversary of the Diablo series.
 
It had better damn well be Diablo 3. This is of course with a couple of key things as well. It had better not be an MMORPG like WoW, it had better not have abandoned the hack 'n slash core, and lastly it needs to be released soon, as in this year. I need my fix, and I don't need a year or two worth of hype getting built up only to have to hear how much it sucks because it was hyped so much.

No way it will be released this year. If you know Blizzard you know we won't be seeing it for quite a while after the initial reveal.
 
Yeah if it is D3 I would say it wont be released till late 09, early 10 at the earliest. Hell Starcraft 2 wont be out till the end of this year.

Oh, I know. It'd actually be kinda stupid for them to release it this year since they have Starcraft 2. I figure it'll be September of 2009.

I hope they actually have something worth showing off, and it's not just them finally admitting that they're working on it. Of course, that's assuming they don't pull a fast one and it end up not being Diablo 3.
 
Well, if it DOES get released this year, 2008 very well may take over 2007's title of "Best Year in Gaming" 😉
 
Man I just had a thought.... If it is Diablo III can you imagine the % of the world gamers on Bilzzards servers with this and WOW!
 
Its Diablo 3. The reason for the similarity to WOTLK is because blizzard usually uses misdirection towards a game that has already been announced, and will then reveal a totally new game. They did this with Starcraft: Ghost, and I believe they did it with one of the Warcraft games??

Why would they hint at it being a Diablo game, only to announce a game that has already announced, and to piss off millions of Diablo fans out there. They wouldn't do that to their fanbase.

 
say it is D3, its not going to come out for at least 2 years, theres no way blizz woudl release SC2, D3 and the WoW expansion in the same year
