Meijer had TTK on-sale for $10, so I got it and Forza 6 for $40 total. Have a friend who wants me to play with him, so I'll give it a try, though I didn't care for the beta.

We're both old and married and have jobs and stuff, so keep that in mind.

So, who's on ps4 and wouldn't mind dragging along me and my brother on a raid once iron banner is over?
We both finally got past 300 light (thanks SRL) and want to try the raids.
We're both old and married and have jobs and stuff, so keep that in mind.

Just remember that doing the raid for the first time will consume lots of time. Especially true for kings fall because there are specific ways to do every encounter. One mistake can mean a wipe and repeat and some of the encounters don't end in one round so be prepared to spend a couple hours and maybe not finish.

im up to around 280 light level and am stuck. Don't know anyone else playing and the random heroic strikes and crucible runs are rather boring. I have a level 42 quest I can't do yet and yeah....

Use LFG if you need help with some harder quests that you can't complete solo yet. But yeah keep running heroic strikes and stay in them longer, as in do 3 strikes in a row. The longer you stay in the playlist continuously, the better your drops become.
Also, each time you run a strike, use a 3 of coins to help get you more exotic drops.
Lastly, when you decode engrams (any color), make sure you are wearing your highest light level gear as the items decoded will have a better chance to be a higher level light gear.

I'm having problems killing the champions in the cosmodrome. I can kill the lieutenants fine and summon the named NPCs, but just cant kill them solo which sucks. I'm just about ready to buy another xbox one, another copy of destiny, and then my son who is LL 290ish and i can group up. Seems like a lot for a game, but we can then also play halo and other games together.

At the end of the day, you probably won't miss the money.
Did you do any iron banner? 310 artifact for rank 2, just the thing to help.

you get a 300 artifact from finishing one of the questlines which gives you a quest to get a 310 one
doing any of the raid challenge modes on normal gets you a 310 one, on hard you get a 320

I am not geared enough for raids yet and I don't think offhand they support matchmaking so thats out. I haven't looked at reddit's fireteam section yet (watched the KU/OU game until late last night), but will do so sometime soon.
destinylfg.net is a really good site to find raid teams. You can even post that you haven't done the raid and you need a team to carry you. So long as you are open about that, finding a group isn't too bad.
King's Fall raid on normal has a recommended LL of 290, but if you have a good team, you could get by at 285 or so.
I would also watch some youtube videos of the mechanics of the boss fights so you have an idea of what to expect.

My son did his first kings fall raid last night and the group he was with knew going in he was a noob and were very helpful. I explained to him how I had been doing this stuff for years when he was just a little kid with World of Warcraft raids and the like and he had no idea. Fun to see him figure out its not just run and gun but there are also strategies you have to use.

Playing in Europe has been highly annoying. My regular buddies never match up with their schedules so I end up with randoms who are mostly special. Got 2 characters up to 5 on Iron Banner last week and got two 310 shells. Pretty much done with Destiny.

I can see how the time difference would make it a hassle. Hope you find another game to keep you busy.
On a side note, I just got up to 290. Is there a way to run the old level 20 crota kill quests/end game in the taken king?

on rank 5 you should have gotten another item, it was guaranteed, if it didn't show up all you needed to do was go to orbit same as the last 2 iron banners

Dammit, that freaking Titan quest where you have to create 7 Orbs 3 Times in a Strike...that's a f'in PITA.
What's the best place to do this? Devil's Lair, Will of Crota or The Nexus?
