Just bought a Xbone and Destiny + Season Pass.

Installing everything right now, can't wait to try the game.

Is there a solo campaign to get the hang of things?

Yes. It is more solo than single player though, as you must be online for it. With that, you can have group at any time (if you have XBL gold). Only the endgame doesn't have matchmaking (at least, in game matchmaking). Once you hit 20 and start needing to gear up, check out destinylfg.com.

It's not a true solo campaign, as this is a psuedo-MMO style game. You can play all the story missions by yourself, but essentially you are loaded into instances of the world with some other folks. And then when you get to a specific area where your mission starts, you phase into an instance where it's only you (and your team if you have one).

It's definitely a fun game overall and if you like FPS and loot games, you'll enjoy this game.

So it's basically a MMO, nice I like that.

Yeah, NO. Nothing about the multiplayer in the game is massive. Or huge, or big, or even average. You are limited to 3 or 6 man fireteams, that's it. Interaction with other players (outside of missions) consists of waving at, pointing to, or dancing with them using your D-pad. Oh, you can also sit down.

Wrong choice of word sorry. It's an Online FPS on small maps 😛
Anyways, game look fun and I have some peeps to play this with.

So exactly like Guild Wars?

Since the mmo I want to play is pushed back to next year, I'm thinking of getting this. I'm just afraid it's too late to get into, then again it doesn't have much competition right now so maybe it's fine to start now?

Does the DLC ever go on sale? 15 or 20 seems steep for old DLC. Bought the game again for nephew and was going to get the add ons. but this seems like I should just a whole other game instead of the DLC.

Maybe when it has been out longer than a year and has more than only 2 DLC.

At this point, you don't need the first DLC. Heck, you don't even necessarily need the second DLC either, as you can get to max level w/o either DLC.

However, if you wanted to get the DLC, you could get by w/ the second DLC which just came out. No real reason to get the first one really.

MS online usually does the full game + both DLC for $60

I'll be playing on XBL when House of Wolves is released. Most of my friends quit destiny so I will need to find some new xbox friends.

GT: Shadowed Wilds

Feel free to add me, I am pretty good at the raids and would like to play with ppl who like strikes and raids.

I am looking to get started on RAIDS and VOG. I have HoW, played the first level yesterday.

GT: SufferedSalmon

OK. I finished the campaign and the strike. Started doing PoE.

PoE is kind of boring. Not because it is easy, but because you can't take cover without everything coming after you. Bungie's servers are garbage and I kept getting dropped on the next to the last round. For loot, I got a auto rifle from the big chest. It is identical to Suros. I also got Hawkmoon and some Hunter arms which I promptly salvaged.
