They show up after you turn in some bounties. They just appear randomly from the NPC. I have gotten it twice but I only do it for weapons I will use at some point.

Finally hit 26 this weekend. Ended up buying the exotic hunter armor. Now just to upgrade it!

The public events can reward you for gold tier immediately after it ends. I have gotten energy this way before. After a certain point this week I stopped getting them that way at all.

Eh, I can see this game getting pretty old, pretty quickly. I don't play a lot, maybe a couple hours every couple days. I get tired of running the same bounties over and over again. I have yet to see a legendary engram, just for the chance to have it turn into green shoes. Not being able to skip the damn cutscenes when you run the same bounty over and over again is incredibly obnoxious. The load times to do something simple like go to the tower are ridiculous. The lack of an in game LFG system seems absolutely idiotic in a game seemingly designed around PUGs. I'll give it a little more time, but I have so many unopened games in my pile I'm not going to keep playing a mediocre one in the hopes that it gets better. I had much higher expectations for this game.
 
Just FYI, legendary engram's can never turn to anything lower than a legendary item now. They will not turn into green or blue items and rare engram's will never turn to green. They all have a small chance of turning into the next tier up however. This was addressed in last week's patch.
 
I got my first legendary item over the weekend.. and it was for a class I don't use. $*(%!^(*@ Almost had to stop playing.

Yup, the only legendary item I got was for Warlock and I'm Titan. This past weekend I finally got my first legendary, Queens Wrath helmet for doing the strike mission. Did it again and got the same helmet. This game with its drops are seriously still retarded.

Happened to me as well. First legendary item I actually got from an Engram (had found a couple before, but they were either blues or material) was for a class I didn't use. Oh well, free upgrade material.

Yup, at this point I welcome legendary armor of any class because i'm just gonna break it down anyway for the materials. Only thing I am looking for now in armor is another exotic(i have sunbreaker gauntlets already but would switch out for an exotic chest piece), or maybe some of the raid legendaries.
 
as of yesterday, I have 39 shards but need energy. Destiny knows what you need and works against you.

Hell, why can't they let us trade shards for energy if it is a one for one swap?

Hah...how about getting a legendary engram that turns into an exotic helmet for hunter. I am a warlock...so I dismantled it and used the shards.

I also had a legendary turn to an exotic I just bought from Xur.

I wouldn't mind if Xur exchanged coins or motes of light for ascendent materials and had a limit of 5 per week or something.
 
You can't keep an item you got for a different class in your bank and use it on another one of your characters?

You can, but i'd rather hit 30 on my warlock than start a hunter or a titan get them all the way up to 20 just to use some gear that I could have just broken down for ascendant shards for my warlock.

Well yeah, it'd only make sense if you planned on (or already have) that other character class 😉
 
so this iron banner thing.

do i actually have to grind out rank 1 and buy the shader and class item before i can start doing the bounties?
 
Guys, need some help here. Last night I beat the last mission on Mars, but did not get a final ending scene or the strangers' gun.

I'm pretty sure I beat all the other story missions, but do I need to also beat all the strike missions as well?

Additionally, I hit the "triangle" button to skip the 30 second mission debriefing part after I finished the last stage. Could that have caused me to not get the ending scene or gun?

No, I didn't do one of the strike missions before I finished the game.

I hadn't done any strikes whatsoever when I played the final story mission. I even had two Mars missions that I hadn't completed yet.
