So would you say that the Clips are better defensively than the Mavs? Because for all the talk about how the Clips' size and defense would slow down PHO, they just gave up the 2nd largest amount of points in a game 7 ever. And PHO is the first team to win by 15 or more points in 2 or more Game 7's. 😉

Also remember that last year's Mavs won 2 less games than this year's Mavs and they lost in 6 to PHO (although they had Amare).

First off, for 3 games the clippers did slow down phoenix. Compare that to the spurs who only slowed down dallas in one of the 7 games and a quarter and a half of another game. And the spurs are quite good on defense.

But anyway, I do think the mavs are slightly better defensively, yes. They are rotating amazingly well, and the clippers were not rotating all that well. They also have more depth on the bench. Nowitzki is not a great defender, but he should be fine against marion. Dampier/Diop may have problems guarding diaw on the perimeter, but who cares, let diaw shoot the jumper if he wants. The main defensive match up problem is barbosa. I'd say the mavs are the 2nd best defensive team remaining, behind detroit. The suns are by far the worst. Their offenses are close, I might rank mavs as #1, or at worst #2.

That pretty much sums it up. And if the games go into OT, the Mavs have the advantage there due to depth/minutes played.

Dallas is going all the way, ive been a dallas fan for the longest.
If you dont like bball why the ****** are u even posting in this thread, thats just ****** retarded

Also don't forget that Steve Nash loves to play against his old team, he went off last year when they beat em:
Game 2: 23 and 13
Game 3: 27 and 17
Game 4: 48, 5, and 5
Game 5: 34, 12, and 13
Game 6: 39, 12, and 9

Both teams split this year, but Nash went off a couple games too:
30, 9, and 8
25 and 11 assists

For some reason, Nash seems to have breakout games vs Dallas (not always but arguably more than any other team), he seems to get up more for these games. 😉
My spidey sense is tingling... *cough* 27 and 16 😉

The Josh Howard loss could change the series. He is one of the most versatile and well rounded players. Without his defense and rebounding, the Mavs will suffer in an up-tempo game. I really hope he comes back for the Mavs.

As many times be4, I am eating crow over the Mavs, They had the game in hand, and proceeded to miss shots and turn the ball over in the last 4 minutes. They had Phoenix gassed, but credit the Suns for playing a full game and making their key shots when it counted.

If JH comes back, I still think the Mavs will make the correction and win in 6. If JH does not come back, then the series will go to a game 7 and I cannot predict a clear winner.

Josh Howard was the difference in this game. Can't wait until tomorrow night to see if Dallas can take one in Phoenix.

Woohoo, up 2-1 and firmly in control of the series. Go Dallas!

I was worried there for a minute during the second quarter when PHO looked about ready to run away with it. But the Dallas defense clamped down and it was enough.

no way will mavs win in five. Give me a freakin break. Everyone counts the suns out, but who took out the Mavs last year? Who is still keepin up with the Mavs after losing amare? Who is still keeping up with the mavs after losing Raja bell? The game tonight was weak. The mavs won is fair and square, but the refs kind of screwed it up at the end with the resetting of the clock when dirk clearly didnt hit the rim.

bottom line is suns played a sub par game tonight and still kept up with the mavs. They are not that good, plain and simple. I predit the suns to win it in 7.

Dont count the suns out of the running. Mark my words.

just when you think the officiating can't get any worse...Dirk got hammered at least 4 or 5 times underneath the basket going up for a shot (two straight possesions at one point 🙁)...i will admit there were some other calls that should have gone the sun's way, but didn't either..

guess the karma came back in the Mav's favor in 4th quarter though 🙂...

still, this has to be most poorly reffed playsoffs I have ever seen...

Go Mavs!!!

Um, last year was different. Mavs are a much better team than last year. Suns in 7? Give me a break.

Big game tonight for the Suns. This is basically their season because they need to win one at home to have a chance. I expect them to fire all their shots and it may be the most entertaining matchup of the series. Woot!
