The aspect ratio is off... it's cropping down to 54 x 80 due to that. If you crop it yourself you should be able to improve things...

Adblock the entire http://forums.anandtech.com/customavatars/ directory if you really don't want to see them.

No need to use AdBlock. There's a setting in User CP to disable avatars.
