Looks like i'm a happy camper with my 4000+ @2835MHz for $70(FTW!).
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (Radeon X800 Pro for Vista)
Well, I know Vista sucks... But x800Pro is twice as fast as 9800Pro... Does it really suck THAT badly??? O.O

So, if I understand well, with a 8800GTS and a E6600 (and above), you should be all right playing at the highest visual settings?

I sure hope so considering that is what i have. Good thing I can overclock my processor and 8800GTS if I really need too.

I should be good.

But I can use these to convince my brother that its time to upgrade his system. :p He keeps telling me that his system meets all the minimum system requirements for games.

To enjoy this game you really need a 8800gtx. The minimum is set to lowest of resolution 640x480 or 800x600 is what I'm thinking. Recommend means you will be getting 30fps with a 8800gts at the highest settings in medium resolutions like 1024x768 or 1280x1024. That's usually the case between minimum and recommended.

I play the MP Beta regularly, everything at High, at 1280x960, and I know I'm alright (constant 40 FPS or more).

I should of gotten the 640 meg version of 8800 GTS instead of the 320 meg model. Will I suffer because I don't have enough video ram? My native resolution is 1600x1050. Will I be able to play at that resolution?

No. :D

I imagine you'd need top of the line stuff to play at 16x10 (or 16x12) with no AA and some of the quality settings turned down a bit.

They have already said that it'll be another year or two for hardware to be available that could play the game at its highest settings.

If I can't play it at 1650x1080 with texture res and AF all the way up then I'm gonna hold out until I get a 2900 series card. I played Far Cry with a crap video card the first time around and when I finally did get some decent hardware and played it again jacked up I kept wishing I did it right the first time. I'm not gonna make that mistake again.

Hmm, I don't like how game developers put almost the same identical system specs. I'm almost sure that Call of Duty 2 has the same specs as Crysis but the two games' demands are soo much more different..

You mean call of duty 4?

Crysis recommended system is a 8800gts

Call of duty is x1800

I could only imagine the size of a 9800 when it comes out from Nvidia. My 8800 all ready made my chipset overheat from contact on the HSF unit on the mobo.

Medium settings in games isnt necessarily bad gaming. Often its fine unless you are the type that demands the utmost from a game. The game is ahead of current hardware technology though as mentioned by various people. I'm guessing ahead by 6 months video card wise. If you decide to wait, due to lack of a decent performing system, look at the upside. When you finally do upgrade you can get the game at bargain bin pricing, plus any patches and possibly addons/expansions.
