Early this year I told my friends that by the end of this year gas would 4 dollars a gallon. (yea, i don't watch cnn or fox, just follow the real news). Anyway, they laughed at me, and I told them that it would go up, then stay at 2-3 dollars and we would say it wasn't a bad price. i call that the conditioning effect.
Well, almost end of year and gas went up to 3 dollars in some areas. Now that it was down to about 2.50 (regular last weekend) my friends are bragging how cheap it is. Soon it will be 5 dollars, go down to 3 and we will think we are getting a bargain. In the meantime, my freaking salary hsan't gone up too much.
i'm single make a good salary and yet, i'm whining. I don't know how people that have suv's and kids are getting by. Are we really this condtioned? i guess so....
oh, and to the argument that europeans pay 8 dollar the gallons----yea, they have massive public transportation and taxi's that don't cost 40 dollars a ride..
Cliffs:
Morons keep bitching about gas prices and being scared gas will run out
Morons are their on worst enemy because at normal consumption prices would have barely risen due to existing supply
Morons have artifically spiked demand and thus prices have risen
Morons continue to wail and gnash their teeth because they are morons
You are all morons, die, etc

Taxis in Europe are expensive... way more than NYC.

Actually, isn't it MORONS who ignore common sense and logic skills as well?
Honestly, is there a single person on this forum who actually believes that enough people will get Mill's message and prevent prices from skyrocketing?
Common sense + logic: 50% of Americans are below the median in intelligence. The national enquirer and related types of papers actually sells papers to people who believe their articles. (proof: look for the thread in highly technical about a gas cloud that's going to dissolve the earth in 2014.) There are people who believe that we (mankind) have never made it to the moon.
If you don't believe that those people are enough to cause the prices to skyrocket, ignoring the possibility that the oil industry may just use it as an excuse to hike prices even a little bit to make more profit, then you are a fool.
No matter what, prices are going to go up in the next couple of days. Supply has already decreased as they have already shut down a bunch of the refineries. Do you, Mill, have any concept of simple supply and demand economics? Prices *ARE* going to go up. I'll fill my tanks now, thank you very much. And, if by filling them now causes the price to go up even a little bit more, then tough sh!t to the morons who don't fill up now. We can all pay $4.00 a gallon next week, or some of us can pay $3.00 now and the rest of you $5.00 later. I'm looking out for myself, not you. (prices are, of course, made up for illustration purposes only.)

??? Where at??
Whenever I go home to Dublin, it costs no more then about 10Euro for a taxi from Dublin Airport to Lower Rathmines (about 20 minutes, 30 if traffic is bad on O'Connell St)..
