The teaser website for Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 went live today.

Meanwhile at the GDC Choice Awards, event organizers revealed that a sneak peak of Infinity Ward's next game will be shown at the end of the show--in other words, sometime in the next hour or so.

If you somehow thought that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 wouldn't make it this year, then this trickle of news will put your worries to rest. Activision CFO Thomas Tippl confirmed today that Infinity Ward's shooter will definitely be arriving this holiday season and is, apparently, "looking incredible."

He said at an annual Wedbush Morgan Securities meeting (via Kotaku) that Activision expects Modern Warfare 2 to be "the most anticipated game of the year," going so far as saying "Perhaps [it'll be] the number one game of the year despite the fact that it's only going to launch in the holiday season." That's a lot of bold statements coming from an executive. Hopefully, Infinity Ward's sophomore Modern Warfare game will live up to Tippl's hype.

Funny how they question if the game will be able to hit #1 after W@W hit #2 with it's release date in November.

I'll keep this thread updated with any new information. This is probably my #1 most anticipated game this year.

Cool. Love COD4. I just got back to working on it 2 nights ago as I had not had time to play it all for many many months (hadn't even finished the single player side yet). Man do I like this game!

Here is hoping #2 is as good as or better than #1

boy, COD4 is awesome and all, but some things about WAW make it hard to go back to.

number one thing: being kicked for TKing. me and a buddy went to play some COD4 earlier. guy kept TKing in S&D. so hard to deal with that after being used to them getting kicked in WAW. this is one thing i hope they correct in MW2.

still, i am pumped for MW2. i'm trying to get away from WAW and COD4 for a while, so when MW2 comes out, it will seem fresher. WAW is awesome and all, but it feels stale after playing COD4 for a year and a half. i don't want MW2 to feel the same way.

can't wait for this game!

The amount of guns just seem so much more in W@W, and make leveling faster it seems. I'm going to play CoD4 when I get my 360 back and go through another prestige in HQ to see how long it takes me compared to 65 lvls in W@W.

i don't know, hitting 65 seemed like it took forever compared to 55 in COD4. like, i prestiged 3 times in COD4, but refuse to in WAW because it takes so long. that, and i don't play it as much anymore.

and i hope they keep all the guns from COD4, and just add a ton more. maybe better attachments and stuff as well. selective fire would be sweet. that way you can adapt to your current situation right then, instead of dying and picking another weapon.

I'm going to try and keep up with all the news that comes out in the next year - I'm sure we'll have some previews and stuff come May.

Finally, Infinity Ward returns. I hate that they make every other game. Everyone knows they make better games.

World at War was Treyarch's last game, IW is supposed to make 'em all from here on out.

CoD4 was legendary so we should all be very happy right now. I sure did love cOd4, got into the top 20 before retiring from it. ^_~

MW2 is my most anticipated game this year, by far. I'm looking forward to it so much that I'll probably take the day off work when it comes out.

Seriously, how many times can you take WW2 and make it into a game? I'm glad IW will be making all of them; also, they are able to make their own IP too so double +.

i just hope they fix the problems with the online play - at least the ones i have.

mainly - i wish IW would understand the word 'options'

CoD:WaW was just CoD4 with a new skin so no reason to call that one CoD5 and this looks just like a slightly updated CoD4 so this should be CoD4 Remix.
