Can we now put an end to another big nothing propogated by Republicans against the President. Obama lied! Susan Rice lied! Cover-up!! You guys have come up empty on every attempt to scandalized this administration. Just give it up.

Just to put a thumb in the GOP eye I hope Obama nominates Susan Rice as the next Secretary of State.

The intelligence community - not the White House, State Department or Justice Department - was responsible for the substantive changes made to the talking points distributed for government officials who spoke publicly about the attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, the spokesman for the director of national intelligence said Monday.

Some Republican members of Congress suggested the change came from within the Obama administration - from the White House, the Justice Department, or another government agency.

Turner, the spokesman for National Intelligence Director James Clapper, said that was not the case.

"The intelligence community made substantive, analytical changes before the talking points were sent to government agency partners for their feedback," Turner said, referring to the White House, Justice Department, State Department, Pentagon and FBI. "There were no substantive changes made to the talking points after they left the intelligence community," he said.

I agree and you can bet that McLame is going to further look like an ass blocking it. ;) He was on the Sunday talk shows DEMANDING an apology from Susan Rice too.

Any non-hack could see this was pure politics from the beginning.

LOL, you need to pay better attention. A conservative doesn't need facts for something to be true. Facts are, after all, nothing but a librul invention designed to make conservatives feel bad about themselves. They have nothing to do with conservatism.

The only relevant question is: "Would this, if true, make a conservative feel good about himself."
The answer is, "No."
So, a conservative is emotionally incapable of handling the thought that it might be true.
Therefore, he must treat it as false.

For reference, Republicans, situations like this are why you are treated like the enemy of America that your party has become.

for the record weeks ago.

my prediction
I resemble that remark!!!

Mark my words this will be nothing more then a General getting some strange and possible Ms Biceps gettimg some classified documents.

We will discover no lying by the administration and we will affirm Susan Rice went public with intel provided to her by Patraeus.

prediction of the web faced troll
The administration knew it was a well planned/executred al qaida terrorist attack as soon as it was happening, and then lied for at least a week telling people it was some protest over a video. Is anybody OK with that? There should be plenty of outrage when a president lies about the deaths of 4 americans with that much propaganda.

And then you throw in the embassy begging for more security and intelligence reports of impending attack and yet the administration did nothing. Obama is directly responsible for the deaths, he told bald faced lies for at least a week trying to pull the wool over American's eyes that this was another terrorist attack on his watch.

ok bottom line is there are two versions of the talking points. the version where it spells out the truth (president administration version) and the other version that tells lies (public version for talk shows)

ummm ok glad we got that straighten out.

Over 2 months and an investigation to get this answer? Doesn't explain who decided to blame it on a you tube video. There was a decision to change "al Qaeda" to "extremists." We also have the U.S. "knew" to "there are indications" Islamic extremists participated. The White House on Friday said it made only one change, substituting the word "mission" for "consulate."

Apparently the "intel community" made all those changes.....

But when the document was sent to the rest of the intelligence community for review, there was a decision to change "al Qaeda" to "extremists." The official said the change was made for legitimate intelligence and legal reasons, not for political purposes.

"First, the information about individuals linked to al Qaeda was derived from classified sources," the official said. "Second, when links were so tenuous - as they still are - it makes sense to be cautious before pointing fingers so you don't set off a chain of circular and self-reinforcing assumptions. Third, it is important to be careful not to prejudice a criminal investigation in its early stages."

Any other questions?

If it took 1 month to conclude Obama lied you would have been happy.

How about we focus on the actual attack and get those answers.

This whole thing was retarded from the beginning. Honestly, who gives a shit if they called them "extremists" or "Al Qaeda" in the talking points for public consumption? The public doesn't have a right to know every detail of national security issues the minute they happen.

"The statement released this evening by the DNI's spokesman regarding how the Intelligence Community's talking points were changed gives a new explanation that differs significantly from information provided in testimony to the Committee last week," said committee spokeswoman Susan Phalen. "Chairman Rogers looks forward to discussing this new explanation with Director Clapper as soon as possible to understand how the DNI reached this conclusion and why leaders of the Intelligence Community testified late last week that they were unaware of who changed the talking points."

^^This^^

I watched the news shows that had the House and Senate Intel Committee members on to speak about the closed door hearings. I'm referring to Feinstein, Rogers and Chambliss. They all agreed that the Intel community had all denied making the revisions. Feinstein committed to further investigate it to get answers.

Now Clapper's spokesman comes out and changes the story?

Are we to believe that Clapper testified that he didn't do it and didn't know who did, but now changes his story?

For those actually interested in finding out the truth, as opposed to protecting or attacking a politician, this is absurd.

Absurdity is what government does best. The Intel community issues an accurate memo, then the Intel community changes that memo into something more politically palatable.

There's a reason Obama picked a political operative to run the CIA and then the whole shebang. He values loyalty above all - as did Bush.

Yep.

Truly a sight to see. The ones who defended (some still do) the manipulation and corruption that allowed the adventurism in Iraq are trying to convince everyone else that the Benghazi attacks are somehow 'the real kind of executive incompetence and corruption,' as if the lead-up-to and costs of each are in anyway comparable.

The GOP has come to embody the very wost of politics it seems.

I used to feel sorry for McCain, now I just laugh at that senile old fool. I wanted so much for him not to go nuts, but oh well...

You do know that "political operative" was Gen. David Patraeus?

Lol - so the White House apparatchiks say the White House didn't lie. James Clapper is the same tool who said the Muslim Brotherhood was 'secular".

None of this covers the fact Obama and Rice were telling WHOPPERS about some stupid video that even the Libyan prez said was a phony excuse. Obama is biggest liar I ever saw

Former CIA analyst Larry Johnson explains how O'Clapperbama is lying (again - nothing new)

"What a crock!! Not true. Clapper testified late last week to both the House and Senate Intelligence Committees that he had no idea who made the change. So, here is what needs to happen. A joint intel committee needs to have Clapper and his spokesman before them and under oath to testify about who knew what and who changed what.

The explanation out of the DNI’s office is total horseshit. The “intel community” does not make changes. There is a manager or an analyst who physically typed the words. If that was done in the DNI office then they will know who did it. These people need to be put under oath.

But don’t get distracted by this nonsense. Obama and his entire National Security team knew the night of 9-11 that the United States had been hit by a group tied to Al Qaeda. No doubt about that. They wanted to cover up their covert op that was shipping weapons to jihadists in Syria and did not want to disrupt Obama’s meme about having Al Qaeda on the run."

Heh. The desperation to believe is palpable, the denial amazing.

If some right wing pundit linked a ham sandwich to al qaeda, you'd claim Obama lied because he ate one.

Larry Johnson, one of the Right's most prolific spinmeisters? Really?
