New research from the UK has provided hard evidence to the claim that the use of mobile phones impairs driving performance.
What is more significant though, is that the research shows just how significantly performance is affected - stopping distances increased by nearly 3 times as much as drink-driving.
A similar increase is evident, even if a hands-free kit is used. Control tests have shown that talking to passengers does not impair driving performance to anywhere near the same amount.
