My girlfriend's cross country team is doing a hike to raise money for the breast cancer fund so you guys should probably be on the lookout for local things like that too.

i've heard of too many good people with this disease. I know 4 people who are currently getting treatment for it. seems like its too common these days...

It is amazing how common it has become. Three years ago, I wouldn't have thought a thing about it.....til my sister-in-law, Sunday School teacher, and now my gf have been hit with it. It becomes a reality when I'm trekking from Dallas to Houston M.D. Anderson, with my gf, every 3 weeks for experimental treatment. Each one of them dealt with it in a different way.

Also don't forget that mammograms save lives!! This might also be a great time to remind your loved ones older than 50 to make an appointment for a mammo.

This is my current project at work. Right now, the van can do mammograms etc., but there's no internet connectivity to check in/out patients and view patient history etc etc...so we're working with AT&T to change all of that. It's a REALLY cool van, if you live in the SF/Bay Area check it out. The crew drives around at fairs and stuff, and also goes to underserved communities and offers free mammograms and counseling. For those of you who are interested in donating, there is more information on the page.

I'd like to thank the Gap Foundation for hooking us up with the vehicle and mammography equipment..
