Let's match up A's versus Red Sox.

C
Ramon Hernandez vs. Jason Varitek
Edge - Varitek by a mile. I still don't understand why Hernandez made the All-Star team. He is an average player. Varitek is also a switch hitter.

1B
Kevin Millar vs. Eurubio Durazo/Scott Hattaberg
Edge - Millar because he can play stellar defense and hit for power. He put up much better numbers then both of them. Durazo has been a bust and Hattaberg is a utility player.

2B
Mark Who? vs. Todd Walker
Edge - Walker easily. No explaination needed.

SS
Miguel "See you in another uniform" Tejeda versus. Nomar Garciaparra
Edge - Dead even

3B
Eric Chavez vs. Bill Mueller
Mueller slightly because he is having a career year.

RF
Trot Nixon vs. Jermaine Dye
Dye is not 100%, Nixon played most of the season and put up tremendous numbers.

CF
Johnny Damon vs. Terrance Long/Eric Byrnes
JD by a long shot.

LF
Jose Guillen versus Manny Ramirez
AHAHAHAHAHAHAH.... HAHAHAHAHHAH Ramirez

DH
Dr. Ortiz versus Durazo
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIZZZZZZZZZZZZ game winning HR!!!!

EDGE - Red Sox all over the place.

Prediction

Red Sox in 5.

Red Sox, brand new team this year, brand new GM, manager, roster and an offensive not to be messed with.

GO RED SOX!
How many Post Season Series have the Bosox Won in the last 30 years? Talk about your Chokers!

Um, they beat the Indians a few years back down 2-0 (remember Pedro injured ownage). You must have just moved to Boston I presume? lol Oh yeah, 1986 they won a couple? I don't see where you're going with this?

BTW, if you know of any coworkers/friends out there selling tix PM me :)

What was Bostons record against the A's this year?

It was 4-3, Oakland. Pedro was beaten by Hudsen 4-0 (gave up 2 ER), but was on a pitchcount and came out in the 5th. Manny and Nomar were the only ones to get hits on Hudsen... The rematch of this will be game 1!!! The surging Sox vs the faltering Hudsen (his record that game was 11-4/2.51ERA, since then he has gone 5-3/2.70ERA)... it will be a great game for revenge... Sox will eat up finesse pitchers alive in the playoffs is my prediction...

Hahah FALTERING HudsOn? The Red sox wish the had pitchers who could falter that well.

EDGE - Red Sox all over the place.

Prediction

Red Sox in 5.

Varitek vs. Hernandez - Varitek by a mile? I know that Varitek is better, and i like him more (he's my fantasy catcher and he went to Tech), but I'd say the two catchers are pretty comparable this year. Varitek has played one game more this year than Hernandez and is better in most categories, but barely.

Millar vs Durazo - Millar is a better hitter than Durazo, no question about it. However, Durazo has a higher OBP and more runs, in less AB. Not even going to discuss Hatteburg.

Walker vs. Ellis - Walker easily. No explaination needed. Can't say anything about that.

Tejada vs. Nomar - Only because of the first half of the year can you say that they're even. Looking at Post All-Star Game, Tejada wins in almost every category.

Chavez vs. Mueller - Chavez is a better player and everybody knows he is. Despite having a far lower AVG, he's still got Mueller beat in almost every other offensive category. Besides, he's better at D.

Dye vs. Nixon - I'd have to go with Nixon this year just because of the situation. Dye isn't 100% and Nixon has been pretty consistent this year.

Damon vs. whoever - Johnny by a long shot, although Byrnes was on a very impressive run between May and July, including his hitting for the cycle.

Guillen vs. Manny - Manny is better. But don't overlook Guillen, he's been playing real well all season, when he's been playing.

Although the Red Sox obviously have the better offense, and the two team's defenses are probably about even, A's still have the pitching. The RedSox have Ortiz though, and he's been clutch this year, especially the last few weeks. It's going to be a good series, although I still hope the A's win, mostly because the RedSox do have the better team.

Varitek is better than Hernandez right now. They're not comparable if you are looking at this season's production.

Durazo and Millar are comparable - I'd give the slight edge to Durazo if you are only counting offense b/c of where he plays and his higher OBP.

I would still rather have Nomar over Tejada and I don't really like looking at selective stats.

Mueller is doing fantastic - he clearly was not the better player over the course of the entire 2003 season.

If you're going to look at selective stats, then why aren't you saying that Guillen sucks? He's been horrible since the trade. I would be more worried about this since he doesn't even have an established track record in the majors.

Well since u live in Boston, u can endure all of the media hype and celebration after your precious A's flop *again* on their faces. Ever wonder why teams who are cheap and don't want to spend money never make it to the World Series? You're about to find out the answer again my friend.

Well at least the A's have an excuse(and quite a few WS Titles), what's the Bosox's Excuse for the last 80 or so years? BTW, you don't see me carrying on like they are Precious. You on the other hand!!!!

Red Sox vs. A's - I'm not a fan of either one of these...basically I want the team that is most capable of beating the Yankees (in case the Twins can't) to win against the other! ;)

The Red Sox highly touted offense got totally shut down by David Wells during the only game the had to win this year. That is all.

When was the last time the Red Sox beat the Yankees in the Playoffs? When was the last time the dominated their series with them during the regular season? When was the last time they won a WS? Hell you guys didn't even win your division. If it weren't for the rule changes you'd all be sitting at home beating your wives and watching other teams in the Playoffs like you usually do.

I really hope it's Boston's year, because honestly, I'm sick and tired of hearing Bostonians whine about Babe Ruth and his supposed curse.

Yeah but you gotta hand it to them. After all these years of futilty many fans would have given up on their teams. But not these crazies, they fill Fenway year after year praying that their team will not eventually choke. So far their prayers have not been answered. As they say, "Hope Springs Eternal"

The Yanks dont give a sh!t because the have the division wrapped up before the SEASON STARTS! The sox on the other have learned well what it means to be a second place team ( SIX years in a row)

Say what you want, but that is just sad. ( and even with a $100+ million payroll)
