What would you suspect the run time to be on this notebook with the supplied 6-Cell Lithium-Ion (43Whr) battery?

I don't see why not, there's a 30 day policy for all returnables as long you have your receipt. I don't think there's a clause for Black Friday.

Not AFTER black Friday.. Only the day or hour of the actual sale. If you know what?s going on sale early.. Buy it now and price match in the store on BF. If you try it after you won?t get the BF advertised deal. Also some items will come with rebates valid only if you bought the item on 11/25/05. In this case bring the item back and do a return and re-purchase to get a valid receipt.

I've never had a laptop before, and I'm pulling the trigger on this one. I assume there are two memory slots with a 256mb stick. What kind of memory do I upgrade with? Would you go with one additional 512mb or two?

Also, anyone heard about Fry's ads for Black Friday?

That's good to know, thanks for correcting me 🙂

damn, when are the compusa/bb/cc ads gonna start leaking out. 🙁

I wanna get in that lappy deal, but from what I am hearing the wm (walmart) series will lack the extras that the ze2308EA (HP OEM) version has. (HP's version has bluetooth, Intel Wireless, 40GB and DVD/CDRW combo.) I am also worried that it warranty issues will have to be taken up with walmart directly.

I hope that cusa/bb/cc will have a similar offer, as walmart wouldnt be my first choice for a lappy. :|

If you look at the scanned ad, it appears to have everything you mentioned but bluetooth. Granted, this ad can be considered to not be "official" but the specs speak for themselves.

One of the easiest ways to find what doorbusters are going to be is looking at stock. Since Bestbuy generally keeps stock on the floor it's easy to see what they have 50+ of, and if it's something big such as a TV, compaq, laptop etc, you can bet it has a good chance of being on sale on BF.

oh damn. I just assumed it would lack those features. How the hell is HP/Walmart turning a profit on this?

A lot of these things including the laptop from Walmart are what they call "loss leaders". They will actually lose money or break even on the chance that once people get in the store they will buy things that do have a profit.

Also, how many of these laptops is Walmart going to have? Stock is likely to be very limited, just like at BB, CC, etc.

The $799 Protron 32" LCD at Sears looks tempting

The Sears site lists 1 HDMI Input, but the company is silent on this. Anyone have a Protron LCD?

To clarify the Sears site lists DVI input, not HDMI which is also ok by me as long as it has digital input.
I saw one Protron (not sure the same exact model) in store over the weekend and its pictures look nice. Very tempting since I need a new tv for my kid's game room to replace the old crt tv. The new xbox 360 should match nicely with it too, should I mention.

Laptop will be a Toshiba A-80

I got this from BFADS: (they say price will be $399)
