So how's everyone still liking the Nexus 4? How do GNex upgraders feel about it? Is there anything in 4.2 that you guys are finding usable above and beyond what was in 4.1? Battery life still holding up against good use? How's the speaker now that you guys have gotten some more time with it? Anyone use Bluetooth in their cars or audio streaming with a headset?

I've pretty much decided that I can live with Android quirks for $1200/yr, which is what I'll save by breaking with AT&T and switching me to TMobile and my wife to Straight Talk.

I love the N4. To be honest, I didnt expect a huge difference from the Gnex, but the difference is pretty noticeable. Having the two devices side by side, you can see and feel the difference between opening apps and browsing.

I reluctantly ordered the N4 and even hoped that my order wouldnt process, but I am glad I have the phone now. I still dont like the chrome border or the glass back....

Any N10 users here notice freezes/lockups? Seems to be a prevalent issue on XDA. Not sure if this is a solely Nexus 10 issue or an Android 4.2 issue, but the Nexus 10 frequently freezes and then reboots for me.

Seems to be a 4.2 issue from everything I've read. Not sure what Google was thinking releasing such an unstable update. I was thinking about updating my Nexus 7 to it just to see the new features but the instability is enough to scare me off and stay on Paranoid Android 2.50.

I don't have much scientific data, but I noticed my 16gb didn't freeze at all. My 32gb froze quite a bit, and I've only run down the battery once so far...

I don't expect any OS to be mostly stable until a .1 release. There's just so much that happens after its out in the real world that you can't find or anticipate.

I might hold off on my N4 purchase though. Talked with a few TMobile reps today and they seem to indicate that they were told HSPA should light up in Charlotte on 1900mhz in Janurary. I can wait a month or two. Might still do it and live with EDGE speeds for a while.

Are you using HD Widget app? I don't know about N10 but I know for N7, it causes reboot and battery drain on 4.2. Google and HD Widget are aware of the problem.

Is anyone else with a Nexus 4 order in limbo seriously considering canceling it? I want one, but the longer Google stays non-responsive, I'm thinking my SGS2 is just fine.

Definitely worth upgrading over GNex. So far, I haven't found anything that I must have in 4.2, features found range from neat to useful but no killer feature for me. Battery life has been great for me. If you run the battery hard and you have to go into survival mode for the rest of the day, let it idle to "stop" the battery drain, it spent the night unplugged, woke up to this:

Haven't tried BT yet. As for the speaker, it's both louder and clearer. I have had my favorite ogg cricket notification sound for 2-3 years now so I notice differences instantly, it's both louder and higher fidelity. When playing music it's louder and richer but it's still ~average phone speaker.

Camera is much better than GNex. While it's not the best phone camera and even the best phone cam is still far behind pocket shooters, I'm no longer in the market for a pocket shooter, it's just good enough for me. Here are a few pics I took with it:

So far no issues like rebooting or excessive battery drain on my n10. I have one widget from HD widgets I use so maybe I'll uninstall and see if there is noticeable increase in battery.

I do have some light bleed at 100% brightness like some others in the lower right corner when in landscape. On auto brightness both inside and outside the house I haven't noticed the light bleed.

Loving the tablet so far.

I read a random post on craigslist saying they will be back in stock tomorrow lol, I was looking for sane prices from someone selling them and someone put a post up saying they talked to customer service and they said they'll be back in stock tomorrow...lol. I don't have any hope this will be true but who knows it's more than I've heard anywhere else.

They did say everyone's orders that went in the first day would ship within three weeks. That means they should be ready to take more orders by early next week at the latest.

Take orders for something that won't ship for weeks? Lol.

Honestly, Google needs to hire some Amazon engineers or something.

The amount of orders that went in on the first day was just a fraction of what it could of been, in a few weeks another pallet will be available and it'll be sell out again in a few seconds. I have a feeling this phone will be sold out well into next year.

Thanks. I was trying to find some good comparison photos of a N4 to a i5 or something but haven't found anything good yet. Honestly, the speakerphone and the camera are two of my biggest holdups. They were both painfully weak on the GNex. The speaker on the back bothers me. I really like the location on the iPhone 5. It lets me cup my hand to direct the sound really easily, it was difficult to do on the GNex and seems like it would be just as difficult on the N4.

Battery life was another biggie. The GNex never made it through half the day with me even with fairly low usage. I'm sure the N4 is better in this regard, but I hope it's at least on par with the i5, which just lasted 36 hours off the charger for me with a good amount of usage.

without reading every page here, can someone tell me when the 8gb n4 will be back in stock?

There is an app that will check stock on Android, I think it's just called Nexus 4 Stock Alert. On the iPhone you can look for an app called whohasit.

any way for you to find out how much screen on time there was in that 36 hours?

the best i've gotten on my n4 so far was 28 hours with around 3 hours of screen on time until the phone shut itself off. better than the gnex, but i'd like more screen on time. of course that includes sitting on my nightstand for 8 hours as well.

I can't give an exact number since its an iPhone. Usually, I charge my iPhone at night and charge my ipad at day at my desk. But, since this is a long weekend, I needed to charge my iPad last night night. Then my wife's iPad was dead last night (she rarely uses it, so it sits in her desk drawer and I charge it about once a month). So I had taken my phone off the charger around 7a Saturday morning and had to plug it in at 4% this afternoon at around 5p, so mine had a while sitting on the nightstand as well. Not quite 36h total, I suppose. But I do know the with my iPad on the charger, I used the iPhone far more extensively than I normally do. Usually I can pull it off the charge around 7a and by 10p that might I have about 60% left and I use it fairly often during the day. With the GNex,if I pulled it off at 7a, by about 3p I'd be around 20% and hunting down a charger.

Yeah, I getting pretty frustrated with Google. It's one thing to wait, but it's annoying not to know if it's going to be a > 1 week wait, or a > 1 month wait. And since Google has proven itself inept at online retailing and inventory management, we don't know if a hypothetical 1 month wait will end up just leading to another fiasco with extremely limited stock sold out in minutes.

My wife was going to get my iPhone 4 when I upgraded, but her iPhone 3G is starting to act up so the need for her to get a new (old) phone is increasing.

Plus the weird power-on issues I'm having with my Nexus 7 aren't making the Nexus line any more attractive.

I'm still going to try to stick it out for the Nexus 4, but with better deals starting to show up on the iPhone 5, I'm starting to weaken.

Don't weaken. N4 is pretty damn awesome once you finally get it.
