Wow, the price drop finally pushed 360 sales higher than PS2. Not that I'll buy one until I can get a Falcon 🙂

Poor PS3 is still up from pre-cut sales, but the 360's jump has it right back at 1/2 of 360 sales. That 40GB $400 PS3 had better happen by xmas if Sony wants a chance to catch up.

Can't wait until next month, when we'll see how Lair and Heavenly Sword affected the PS3, and more interestingly, how Halo 3 affected the 360.

> That's a pretty significant jump for the 360 for just a $50 price cut.

The 3-year warranty announcement might have helped too, along with HDMI Zephyr units and all the Halo3 publicity. Plus Madden and Bioshock.

MS has been doing things right in August-September to recover from the gathering storm of redring bad PR.

Haha, does anyone else wish they had thought of the Sony Defence Force website idea? I'd make SO MUCH MONEY with ad impressions!

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

With the Wii, Nintendo DS and Xbox 360 sitting pretty atop the NPD hardware sales charts and Madden NFL 08 taking the numero uno spot in the software sales charts, you'd think that Sony would have nothing to sing about. Guess again. Sony's official statement on the subject called August 2007 "a strong month for the PlayStation brand" citing $340 million in sales.

SDF was right on.

Definitely wasn't expecting that big of a discrepancy between the PS3 and Xbox with the PS3 having the price drop it had...figured there were a lot of people out there waiting for a PS3 price drop to bite (as witnessed on this forum)....but the numbers aren't there.

Sony really needs that $400 model this fall. MS could really put Sony in a tailspin if they dropped the price of the 360 another $50-$75 in November.

Wow, good jump for the 360. As much as it mired everyone in here with their price drop (OMG only $50? Cheapskate a-holes!), it was a pretty smart business move. With a strong software lineup (I don't even have to mention the games that'll sell the console this holiday season) they'll sell like crazy...then when things calm down next spring they have the incentive to drop it another $50 or so.

Halo 3 is upon us, I think that partly accounts for the good 360 sales numbers, along with the price drop. The PS3 will languish until the game library is much more attractive , and they don't push the BD player enough. Remember those numbers on how many PS3 owners didn't know it was a BD player? The number of potential customers unaware of it, is likely higher yet. It would sure help consumers understand the price tag better, if they were well aware of its BD functions.

I bought mine last month after price drop. Of course I should have waited...I didn't even get a zephyr and I'll probably regret it at some point but right now I'm having a freaking blast.

No reason to regret as long as you're having fun with it.

Yep. The only major thing you missing is the HDMI and the quality difference is questionable while gaming.

I've got an old school tv anyway so the hdmi wouldn't have helped. I definitely won't regret it until I experience the RROD.

Playstation/Sony all together (PS3/PS2/PSP) really isn't doing that bad. I'm surprised the PS3 is selling like it is, considering the games still aren't there. Then again, I'm really not. Nevermind. Don't ask.

The 360 sales are surprising as well. That $50 price cut didn't seem like much to me, but I guess it was pretty big.

You know, I have a really difficult time figuring out if these guys are serious. I'm still leaning towards the SDF being a satirization of fanboyism, maybe even paid Sony employees.

I refuse to believe that anyone who is delusional enough to claim victory for the "playstation family" with that absurd graph has the mental capacity to actually maintain a website.

It seems like perfectly played deadpan humor to me, right down to using wagglin' grampa and pikachu for the wii and DS, but you never know.

That?s just awesome, Playstation Family! While Wii, DS, and 360 thrive on their own, the Playstations have learned teamwork is essential to their survival.

😀

Well, it is a blog. I mean, it doesn't take a whole lot of knowledge to get a blog up and running.

I thought it was satire first, but most of their posts are devoid of humor. If they're trying to be funny, they really suck at it (with the exception of this NPD post, which is identical to last month's with the addition of graphs)
