Okay it seems we've decided:

What:
ATOT Vancouver meet

Where:
Las Margaritas - on 4th ave in Kits.

When:
5 pm, Saturday May 23rd

Who:
You!

IMPORTANT:
Please post in the thread if you can make it as the day gets close. Las Margaritas doesn't do reservations on the weekends, so whoever gets there first (probably me), will have to try to book up a big table and will need to know numbers.

We'll get a sticky closer to the actual day.

Attending:

silverpig
KeithTalent
InflatableBuddha
RbSX
hk02

Maybe Attending:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are quite a few of us around here from Vancouver, and I know at least a few of us are interested in a meet. We had one several years ago at Jeremiah's on 4th and Alma that was well attended and it's been too long.

For now let's just see how much interest there is, and we can throw around ideas for what/where/when. With the weather getting nicer we could try for a beach/park bbq type thing, although that might be best left until July/August. We could do a pub night, maybe for a Canucks game or something.

I'll make the thread ***OFFICIAL*** and get a mod to sticky it once we have a date and place set.

UPDATE:

It looks like we'll try for Saturday May 23rd unless there are a lot of objections. We're also thinking of a venue somewhere along Broadway or 4th, or maybe downtown. Specific suggestions are welcome.

UPDATE 2:

Okay, I want to have this set by April 23rd, 1 month in advance. That means we have 1 week left. If anyone has a suggestion to offer, do it now. If you don't like one of the places suggested thus far, speak up now. I really don't want to pick a place, then have a bunch of people complain about it later.

So far we're looking at:

Brown's Social House in Kits
Room 18 (I've read some bad reviews, so maybe not...)
Las Margaritas
Hell's Kitchen (service is crap sometimes so probably not)
Cactus Club maybe
Elwood's - tiny pub on Broadway but you can pack people in

I'm just throwing suggestions out there. Add your own, veto anything on the list, whatever.

I'm down. I haven't been to Jeremiah's, but there are a lot of good spots on both 4th and Broadway in Kits. I'm pretty flexible as to where we go.

A beach outing would be awesome, but I agree, that's best left until summer kicks in. The last couple of days have been beautiful, but they're quite the anomaly this time of year.

Any night works for me - I can adjust my training as need be. I've been off drinking for 3 weeks now and I don't plan to drink until after May 3 (marathon), but a pub would still work.

Well we can do it in May and double it as a marathon celebration 🙂

I don't know, Vancouverites are kind of assholes.

It's just the yuppie yaletown pricks that give us all a bad name 😉

So true! I'm down, but only if we drink expensive imported beer/wine and eat only organic foods!

I'll pass... If I want to get shot by gangsters, I might as well stay in Toronto and save the airfare.

True, but you are probably more likely to be hit by an errant hockey puck in T.O., since the Leafs always miss the net!

That is not true! They fan on the pucks. Laying stick on the puck would be a big improvement

Okay, well how about we give ourselves a bit of time, and look at a Saturday in mid-May? 9th? 16th? It's April 7th today so that gives us a little over a month.

Venue suggestions? I like the Broadway/4th idea, or maybe downtown.

That should work for me. If we do it on 4th or Broadway, can we try to keep it relatively close to Burrard/Granville/Cambie? I'd like to walk and anything further away than that would force me to drive.
