I saw it Friday night at 7:00 and thought it was quite good but unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the full effect. Allow me to explain.
My g/f bought tickets at 2:30 without a hitch. We got to the theater at 6:30 for the 7:00 show (I live right across the street so it wasn't far), skipped the ticket line and my g/f got popcorn. We then proceeded to the theater where there were a whole bunch of bags of popcorn and cups of pop at the entrance (obviously not for me). When we got in at the top, there was a girl standing next to a whole bunch of clear tape blocking off the best seats in the entire place. She proceeded to tell us that those seats were reserved and we had to find different ones. Looking around, the only place we found that we could sit was in the SECOND ROW! One minute before the show started, the Purdue football team waltzed in and took the seats at the top. I couldn't believe it. There was never any mention when the tickets were purchased about reserved seats and the fact that no matter how soon we got there, we wouldn't be able to get good seats. This theater can't focus a picture if they had to, so I had to deal with Brosnan's face stretched by fuzz about six inches in each direction. The theater also decided that if you're sitting in the front seats, you're probably also deaf, but just in case you weren't yet, you would be when you left. There was an extreme amount of distortion throughout the dialogue (from the speakers being driven too hard) and a couple of the jets just about made my ears bleed. Then, during the best scene of the movie (the car chase), somebody called my cell (I turned off the ringer so it was just on vibrate and i didn't answer it), then they called again, then another person called. So I was looking at my phone throughout most of that (granted, it's my own fault).
Anyway, was my personal viewing experience worth $8.25? No, it wasn't worth $0.25. Will I see it again? Absolutely, I don't know what happened throughout because I could only see about an eighth of the screen at any given time. I think I'll watch it over Thanksgiving break where I don't have to worry about football players. From the parts I saw, I would definitely say it was very good except for the current trend in filmmaking which involves slowing everything down for a couple of seconds and then flying through the next couple of seconds to catch up. I hate it when they do that. Thanks for listening.
edit: I forgot to mention that I flinched when Bond blew up the 911 and sobbed when the Lamborghini and the Ferrari were shoved out of the plane.
