That's why it's "beyond . . . 3d" . . . he is most technical . . . but pretty well thought out and written . . .

NV40 may ooo-and-awww us tomorrow, but the battle ain't finished until it's benched with R420 in a few weeks. Until then, nVidia can bask all it wants...

geez 25 pages and not done yet? thats pretty in depth. I think the real reviews will be when R420 is released though. Then the battles will truly begin.
 
BTW, I think someone...cough, apoppin, cough...should start an OFFICIAL NV40 thread. All this NV40 news is corrupting MY R420 thread.

I doubt anything exciting will happen tonight. Though I will be staying up until 1 o clock just in case hehe.
 
the 800SE does not make any sense to me.

Certainly not an 'upgrade' (128 bit mem bus), 128MB, 8 Pipes if you have an OLD card (9800 Pro) which has 256bit mem bus, 8 pipes and 128MB....
Would be VERY interesting to see how a 9800Pro/XT compares to a 800SE....i wouldn't be surprised if the 800SE is slower.....

Also...i can already see everyone flashin their X800 Pros to X800XT.....yay for 4 more pipes....really interested in the rate of success of people flashing to XT

(crazy...its not even out yet and i am already talking about flashing it 🙂
 
pipes aint the only thing its about. I would think that the X800SE outperforms the 9800pro (maybe 9800XT level)
 
Yeah I think it will out perform it how much I don't know? I mean the 9800 pro is like 200 now even with the limited to a 128 bit bus it should still do fairly well perhaps just not as good at higher resolutions.
 
this game list looks very promising, but also insane regarding CPU specs and memory.....man i have 384MB of mem (ok, this IS lame) and i played games like MaxPayne2 and POP2 *nicely* w/ all eyecandy at max. If these games are only half as good as the specs make one assume..... DS2....i havent read about it yet, i was very disappointed with DS..... (i am a RPG fan 🙂....i hope many of these games are NOT only eye-candy but also have depth and game-play..... (this is rare nowadays....)
