Or else they had a bunch and their "limit quantity of 20" didn't last long because of ebay sharks looking to make some quick $.

So, what is your OC ??????
Sorry, haven't had time to work on it yet... I've got a few projects I'm working on at the moment that demand absolute stability foremost (crashes and disk corruption are the last things that I need right now), and had an additional "setback" of spending numerous hours troubleshooting a computer emergency at some friends' business (though I got paid, so it wasn't all bad). :)

I was lucky enough to order the 4400 from zzf for $610. I was just lucky to get it in...waiting for procesing now! Ill will be upgrading from a Pentium II 400 Mhz....yes you read that right....a dinasour and I have no dioubt that I will fall on my as$ onces i get this new one running.

Few Questions:
1. MSI Ultra or DFI Ultra board? Im not a big gammer so SLI is not for me. But I do want to get my chip to run 2.6ghz on air and im also buying the OCZ PLatinum Rev2 1gb memory. Im leaning more for the MSI so will this motherboard aloow me to OC to 2.6GHz?

2. Also getting a 6600 GT card...which one should i get?
3. Should I install Win XP 64bit or just go 32 for now? Any advantages or are their probelms with drivers and software on isntalling 64bit?

Soory to put this in here...but im excited and Im looking to buy the rest of the system tonight.

Thanks

Are there any dual-proc mobos that support the X2s? It would be sweet to have a 4-way system with 2 X2 chips

I looked here but none of them seemed to be dual-procs. Do you have any specific motherboard suggestions, or am I missing where on the AMD site I should be looking?

The X2 is only for single-processor boards. To support dual dual core CPUs, one needs a dual processor motherboard and dual dual-core Opterons, which will set you back a heck of a lot further than an ordinary X2.

Hopefully it's the DFI Ultra (and I think it is), because that's what I just ordered:).
I got:
AMD 64 X2 4400
DFI Lanparty NF4 Ultra
Geforce 6600GT
2x1GB ram (generic Patriot)
Maxtor 200GB 8MB cache
Silverstone SST case
Antec True430

Whichever is the cheapest. If price is equal, I prefer MSI for the kickass software bundle and custom cooling.

I'm going XP64, but I'm ready for the imperfections and hassles. If you want rock solid performance go for 32.

I can't believe that they don't have any x2 in stock and put "in stock" on their
website. What's all these about?

I went with XP32 due to lack of drivers for XP64 (including an Epson R200 printer and Minolta DS3 scanner). If you're someone who doesn't have much in the way of exotic (or not-so-exotic even) peripherals, then XP64 will probably work fine for you.

Their inventory isn't real time.

I have an order with them (7800) that is packed with a shipping label and backordered at the same time. :p

But when I called them, someone told me they don't have any of them. I mean if you don't have it at all, why you tell people you have them in stock? This is not like you have 20 but all of them are sold out.

Are you sure you just missed out on the stock they had? Most places don't stock things real-time with their website.

If it's out of stock, you even can't add it to cart. I called them right after I placed my order and one of their representative told me they would definitely ship it today.

Yeah...Mark is right. I actually canceled my order with Mwave for the 4800+ because I placed it on tuesday...wednesday afternoon they say my payment was rejected by my bank because it was fradulant. I called the bank...they didn't turn it down. So I checked for the amount on my card...which they verified was able to be charged to my account. Called them back today for the 4th time and they said they tried 3 times, so I made them do it again while I was on the phone with them and on my cell with my bank...nothing went through on my banks end and Mwave got snotty with me...so I said thanks for being so rude and NON-customer friendly please cancel my order and blocked them from charging anything to my account.

I promptly went to Zipzoomfly.com and just placed my order. It's already showing on my card and they were in stock...so now I'm all happy. Should have just ordered it all with them but didn't know they had the 4800+ in stock. Now I gotta wait till monday! LOL Figures

xl80325 - what time did you place your order?

My order shows: ORDER DATE: Thu,23 Jun 2005 10:19:25 PDT

Shortly before they jacked the price up to $640

edit: btw they are still showing the 4200 & 4600 in stock... so I find it hard to believe they never had any. I think they got bum rushed on the orders and oversold.

I bought a 4400+ from ZZF prior to 10am PDT at $610 w/ overnight shipping. My order still shows "Processing". And I have received no email about being out of stock. Fingers are crossed....

I placed my order before you(before the price raise) And i just had a very long talk
with their customer services manager. He told me they used some kind of radom things to decide which order they will ship. And they did have some of 4400+ in stock early this morning but all were shipped out. The most riduculous thing is that he told me they still had them after the price raise but just there were too many orders. Then I asked "I ordered before the price raise, why i can't get mine?" He can't explain it and just told me it's random. Have you ever heard such a riducolous story? I think maybe they just shipped all the orders after the price raise to make some extra money. Anyway, I will never buy something from them anymore.
