Maybe they have some? Oh well, who knows...I just want one, darnit. I ordered an MX-510 from them yesterday and right now it's sitting in a FedEx facility 2 miles away. At least I'll get something new to play with :(

Yay!!!! Mine shipped today from Monarch. I should have it here by Thursday.

Good timing too. A-Bit just released a new BIOS for the AV8 Mobo that supports Dual Core. I just finished updating the BIOS with no problems too. Everything is looking good.

BTW, Does anyone know if just the processor swap will be enough or am I going to need to re-install windows?

Could it be because the retail version won't ship until after chip production has ramped up and there are more CPU's to go around?

They're talking about phase change cooling, Dragon. In other words, refrigeration. If you're intersted in learning more, go here:

It's worth noting that the people on that forum are generally a bit more mature and don't cop an attitude when someone asks a noobish question.

Thank you Otter! Someone PM'd that to me lastnight but not the link. I've heard of "a/c" for CPU's just never heard of Phase Change. Ok...back on topic! LOL

Well yes, it looks like mwave has the 4200+ retails in stock and are shipping them. According to my supplier, they are sending us a chunk of the 4400 retails today, so we'll have them this week, and then we'll start re-packing and shipping the day we get them. At this point, it looks like a few other stores might (or already have) beaten us to the punch on the 4400 retails, so if you want it right away, you can certainly go with them. We still seem to have the best price around and have the free shipping though... so if you hold out until we get our batch, it will save you some money. So it's up to you guys! I'd certainly understand either way. Once I know for sure when we'll actually be shipping out, I'll let you guys know.

4400+ Retail Update

First off, our AMD rep has been completely useless. He's a new guy for our area. and he hasn't returned any of my 7 phone calls or countless e-mails over the last few weeks. I have called AMD about this and pleaded for a new rep, but they just keep telling me he's the guy I have to talk to. We've bought countless tens of thousands of dollars or processors from them so I don't know why they are being so impossible to work with.

Now, to try and deal with his gross ineptitude, we're trying to work with our distributors instead. We have placed an order for enough processors to cover all of our customers with each distributor (Yes, that's 4 processors we've got on order for each customer) so that we can get them as quick as possible.

All of these distributors finally have the processors in thier systems, and we're first in line for 3 of them, 2nd at the last one. Our primary distributor has a ton of them comming in, but no solid ETA. Our 2nd biggest has enough on order to cover *most* of our orders, but only 10 comming in today, but that's the place where we are 2nd in line and we will only get 2 of the 10. The rest of our order with them is supposed to be filled in mid July. The last 2 distributors have a reasonable number on order as well, but no ETA yet.

So, bottom line: I've been doing everything I possibly can to try and get these processors, despite all the broken promises I've gotten from my sources. I've been putting in some solid 16 hour days lately trying to get all this sorted out while still trying to run our the other side of our business, but it looks like we're still just stuck on getting our processors for now.

I think some other places have a much more responsive AMD rep who is actually getting thier orders, unlike ours who has apparently forgotten how to use a phone. So, for any of you who are unwilling to wait (and for that I would not blame you at all) I'd try to pick up a 4200+ from mwave, or try and catch a 4400 from another retailer if you can find them. I really hate to lose the business, but it's not fair for us to keep "dangling the carrot" in your faces, and making you wait when I can't even get a solid answer for when we'll have them to ship.

For anyone who wishes to keep thier order with us, rest assured I'm going to continue my constant badgering of my rep and distributors to get these chips in as quickly as I possibly can, and I'll continue to keep you all up to date. For those that decide to cancel thier orders and go elsewhere, I am extremely sorry we couldn't get these processors in and I wish you the best of luck with your computer builds once you get all your parts.

TankGuys - I for one greatly appreciate the effort you put into keeping us updated here, and being completely honest. I'm not looking to purchase an X2 immediately (maybe a bit later in the summer), but I'll definitely keep you in mind when I get to that point. :)

Keep up the good Tankguys. I will definitely order from you guys in the near future in bulk. For now I canceled my order with Monarch and I hope they fully refund me for the 4800+. I don't like it when someone charges my credit card but doesn't supply me with the merchandise. On the other hand, I was able to place an order with MWave for overnight of the 4800+. It seems they have 19 in stock (18 now since I just got one...heh). I also got a $10 discount because the order was more than $100. The good news is that I will get it as early as tomorrow or by friday the latest. Seems I'm calling out from work on Saturday to play around with the chip and vaporchill. I'm so happy that I'm finally getting my chip. In the end I payed $30 more with MWave but it's worth it and I don't need to play the guessing game with Monarch.

Tankguys: I'm sticking with you all the way.
I value the work and the countless hours you've spent on answering peoples questions and arguing on the phone with distributors.
I have a business where I have to argue over the phone with a lot of companys and I know how bad it gets. So if I have to wait 3-4 more days to get my processor from you guys. Its well worth wait.
You have to get payed for your hard work somehow.
And especially since you haven't treated me or anyone else here like Monarch, there is no reason to jump ship.

Well, I certainly appreciate the understanding you guys are showing, and your willingness to stick it out.

However, I really don't want to have you guys sitting around waiting while everyone else is joyfully OCing thier new X2 and having a grand old time. So really, don't feel bad about going elsewhere. If you want to "reward" us for our time we put in, just keep us in mind for later purchases.

I mean sure, we do have to get "paid" for the work we are putting in, but not at a ridiculous expense to our customers. Things like this happen, as a business owner I have to expect that. So I'm certainly not expecting our customers, who are willing to plunk down $600, to sit and wait when they can get thier items somewhere else.

Sure, we're going to do our best to fill your orders, but if you can get it sooner from somewhere else, seriously, don't feel obligated to wait for us. The whole idea of a pre-order is to get your product as soon as possible, isn't it? :)

I also overnighted mine from mwave last night. How are you able to tell how many they have left in stock? So far it says they still have them in stock, but I have yet to get a tracking number.

DLMyth.....Thank You!!! I just placed my order with MWave and with 2nd day it came out to be $1058(It was retail). I don't think I received the $10 off however. I just called Monarch and cancelled my order via email after they refused to do it over the phone. Should be here Friday!

Okay, my AMD rep finally decided to call me back. It's a minor miracle. Here is what I found out:

Companies that buy direct from AMD (ones who do at least ~30,000 units per quarter) will have limited availability in the next few weeks. Launch partners (Typically at least $200,000 in sales per quarter, plus an AMD loyalty requirement) will also have a few scattered here and there.

Everyone else (including, sad to say, us) is stuck waiting for wide-spread availability through the major distribution channels. Like I said earlier, we have orders in with every single one of those, so we'll have ours as soon as the distributors do. However, it's up in the air when, exactly, that is going to be.

Stores like Newegg and Mwave will have a few here and there, but also likely will not experience wide-spread availability until July/August (according to the rep). Most other stores won't see large numbers of retail boxed units until the July/August time frame either.

Bottom line here: If you REALLY want your processor right away, Jump on those retailers when you see they have them, because they will likely sell out fast and won't be re-stocked on a consistent basis. Otherwise, everyone will be getting them once they hit the distribution channels, and I'll keep you all posted when I have better dates on that.

The X2 4400+ OEM just arrived from Newegg, and is already in the A8N-E... I'll report with more info as soon as I have some (preparing to connect everything on the desk and power up the board in a few minutes). :D

New AT member here, long time lurker and reader of the site though.. I doubt I'd be the first person to mention this, but it's refreshing to see the level of communication being kept between a retailer and an online community such as AT.. With that being said, if someone was to preorder a retial X2 4400+ what would be their approximate queue in your pre-order line.. The next question which I'm sure you can't answer due to channel shortages, is if someone were to preorder now, is there any wide timetable set when one might expect to receive product.. About to build a new rig, looking at a dfi ultra-d a zalman cooler (7000hp, 7700hp, 9500hp) and maybe some other items.. What are your shipping charges like to Alaska? Do you ship via US postal service? Finally do you have a local telephone number which you can be reached..? I'm aware of the email, but apprehensive like most people to spend money at a business which does not have telephone contact information..

Thnx,

J
