There is a good change our first shipment of X2's will be headed our way tomorrow. It's not confirmed, but that's what I heard from a few of my connections. If that's true, we'll ship out a lot of our inital pre-orders within a few days.

Again, this isn't confirmed and I should know for sure tomorrow, but it's a very good possibility.

Yes, I ordered my retail 4800+ today and will have it here tomorrow. Using the $10 Mwave coupon I got it down to $1,040 - w00t! What a steal!

Is it bad when 1K is considered "a steal"?

Not when you can afford it.

Yeah, the price difference between the 4400+ and 4800+ is enough to buy a very high end water cooling setup or half a phase setup. Better cooling would most likely make up for the 100-200mhz higher ceiling in speed. But if you have the money and good cooling already.... the 4800+ is a mighty fine chip!

That's really sweet, but some 4800+ users have gotten over the 3Ghz mark ;)

Seriously though, it's nice to hear. I won't be overclocking right away, but I'm glad to see these are some nice chips in general.

OK...not to hijack the thread...but what is a Phase Setup? I've seen this reference a few times. Don't need to post it here as to totally hijack the thread so if you could PM me that's fine, thank you

Well, 2.4Ghz a CPU = 4.8Ghz.

So an overclocked 3.0Ghz X2 would be 6.0Ghz.

If you think in that respect. :)

BTW, that 2.6 is not even the max, just a 10 minute OC on an XP90 and a low rpm fan ! But it has been stable for 2 hours.... Will take soe time to know the max OC.

Ok, I'll wait another week and maybe I will cancel my order from you and go for a oem one or 4200+ retail elsewhere.

Mwave currently has the 4200+ retail in stock and can ship it tomorrow if you'd like ;)

Yeah, I know that, but 1mb cache still makes me want to go for a 4400+. Anybody knows if there is much difference between 512k and 1M cache?

Oh, ok...you're the one who brought up the 4200+ so I was just trying to be helpful. If you're in no rush and can spare the extra money then get the 4400+. The 1MB cache, while not vital, does help here and there (and more vs. less depending on the application). IMO, it's worth it to get the extra cache otherwise I'd be expecting a 4600+ tomorrow and not the 4800+ ;)

I just ordered a 4800+ overnight through mwave and canceled my order with Monarch. I'm assuming that all you need to do in order to cancel an order with Monarch is send an email with the order number in the subject line asking them to cancel, but they weren't very clear on their website. I figured that since monarch hasn't been reliable with their ETA's and mwave has given me good service in the past, that it makes sense to cancel with Monarch. Monarch is usually a good company, but I've been waiting for this chip patiently since the 2nd of June.

BTW, has anyone gotten their tracking number from mwave yet?

That's what I did, and they canceled my order and refunded the CC (which I was kind of pissed that they charged it in the first place instead of just placing a hold until they shipped). They didn't send me any confirmation, but when I checked on the website in a day or so, it showed as canceled.

I wish newegg wasn't gouging. One of their facilities is in New Jersey, and I'm right across the river in Philadelphia. It's conveinent because I get FedEx Express Saver Packages literally the next day if I order early enough the day before. But I'm not in NJ, so I still don't get taxed. It's an ideal situation actually :p
