Meh, I wasn't laughing at the Broncos as much as I was at AMDZen... until I just read this from Elway on ESPN:

"It's not all about dollars. But when it's way out of whack? Then it's so out of whack that you've got to say: That [salary] can't be it," Elway said Thursday, according to the Denver Post. "Especially when you look at the market and what's out there now. It's so far out of whack. Hopefully, he realizes that."

Why call Dumervil out in the media?!

not from this being an issue of the Pats unwilling to pay what he wants, but that these organizations tend to make these decisions that while they seem rash to the fans and the media, they have a much closer notion of what is going on with these players.

meaning: they are betting on Welker being past his prime, and the cost of keeping him for one or more seasons is not expected to return the desired value. You see it all the time in baseball and football, player released at the top of their game or dealt to another team, that player suddenly turns out to be a flop going on out.

I'm not Pats fan--far from it--but to me, this is one of those situations where the wisdom in the deal probably won't be seen until the next 2 seasons.

Granted, Welker is probably going to the perfect situation for him: Manning simply doesn't have the deep arm that he used to before surgery, and a guy like Welker, if Manning can depend on him like Brady did, is likely going to fit in nicely with a QB that will have to be increasingly reliant on the slot and short pass situations.

I completely understand most of what Techs said about Welker and no, I actually agreed with him on a lot of his points. The contract issues have a lot of unknowns and nobody will ever know exactly what happened there.

The main points for me though are the following:

We upgraded from Brandon Stokely to Wes Welker - clear upgrade and he is 5 years younger
NE is going from Wes Welker to Danny Amendola - also 5 years younger so a good move from that perspective, however he has had numerous injuries and needs to stay healthy. Assuming he does, he could be close to or possibly even equal Welker's production after and assuming Tom Brady gains chemistry with him that is similar.

I just don't understand how NE could let him walk after what he has done, but BB know's what he is doing and I assume it works out for NE. I also know for a fact that is a clear upgrade for us, and have no doubts it makes us a stronger team. And I also think that we got a downright steal on him. He is worth a lot more than 6 mill a year IMO.
 
it's real clear why welker went away, the head cheatriot had a boner about him after they played contract chicken last year and he burned him.

In a BB offense he was.
Anyone who signs a player like Woodhead has to take the BB factor into account. Was he successful because of Belicheks system and the Pats offense or will he be a bust anywhere else.

Look at the history of offensive players the Pats let go. Most do poorly.(though not all)

Yeah, that might actually end up hurting the Pats more than Welker leaving. Leon Washington is a return man, plain and simple. He can't do what Woodhead did total-package wise for the Pats.
 
Wes Welker will kick ass guarenteed.

Probably nothing like 118 catches but I could see 80-90. He will shore up an already deep receiver corp and improve our offense
 
nothing wrong with garrad, if he hadn't hurt his knee at the end of preseason he would have been the dolphins starter.

and I'm still correct about welker even if that's not what your idol told you.
