Smith may be a game manager, but the dude can ball when needed and did a couple times during his time with Harbaugh. Check his game against the Eagles in 2011, the playoff win against the Saints, and even the game right before he was concussed. I personally would have liked to have kept him as a backup with a smaller contract.

Percy Harvin to be traded to the Seahawks. Ugh.. like the guy, absolutely hate the Seahawks.

Sounds like we wil get their first rounder. Sad to see him go, but it was inevitable at this point, so at least we are getting a firt round pick out of it. Going to miss that guy though; was so much fun to watch.

Sounds like the Vikes won on that trade, get rid of a drama queen WR for a first round pick plus some more? Win for them.

I didn't follow the Vikes too much, but is Harvin that bad in the locker room?

Seattle will be crazy good next year if he just keeps it on the field.

Look at his Wikipedia page and it's a laundry list of typical wide receiver diva-ism.

He was a drama queen in high school, got suspended from two football games for yelling obscenities at an official, got suspended from all athletics after getting into a fight with another player in a basketball game.

Tested positive for marijuana at the NFL combine. Got into a fight with Brad Childress. Got into a fight with Leslie Frazier. Threatened to leave the team last offseason. Got all butthurt when his former college teammate Aaron Hernandez got a contract extension and he didn't. Finally it all built up to him demanding a trade from the Vikings, and they got him one.

It was absolutely worth it. We're seeing now just how selfish Harvin has become, and if we had kept him he would have probably sat out the first 10 games of the season, played the last 6 at half effort, and walked away from the team next year, leaving the Vikings with nothing for their troubles. That any team would trade a first round pick and more for a diva who demands to be obscenely overpaid is surprising. I'm just glad the Vikings got something out of the trade. Anything would be better than keeping him.

RavensInsider is reporting Anquan Boldin to the niners for a sixth-round pick.

Damn thats a pretty good trade, PROVIDED he can stay healthy, as we have a shit ton of picks this year. Just our receiver core had an injury problems last year.

Niners need WR help. But they need someone with speed. Anquan is somewhat similar to Crabtree. Can work a corner and make catches, but can't take the top off the defense. Niners need someone with skills like Harvin.

Still, I'd rather they give up a sixth round pick and pay ~$6M for Boldin than give up a first rounder for a diva like Harvin, who will then demand big big money.

On the flip side, I was already scared of Seattle and Harvin will make the Seahawks even better for at least a honeymoon period, and maybe longer if Carroll can keep Harvin in line.

Think we'll be drafting someone with speed this year. Or, maybe Jenkins finally gets put to use. He does have that 4.2-4.3 speed. Between Kaep, LMJ, Kyle Williams/Manningham(who probably now gets cut with Boldin arriving), Jenkins, and Davis, there is a good amount of speed on the offense.

Jenkins should have taken Rice's offer to train him to run the hills.

49ers with Boldin...seems to make them the favorites for the upcoming season. How do you get one of the best WRs in the game for a 6th round draft pick? Sports trades rarely make any sense to me, especially NFL trades.

Percy Harvin is a great acquisition also. He's been one of the most underrated players in the league. He's only been in the league 3 years and has 20 touchdowns and a crazy amount of all-purpose yards. Plus he was injured for a good chunk of that time. When Adrian Peterson calls you the best all around player he's ever seen, you must be pretty good 🙂

Too early to predict a San Fran/Seattle NFC championship? Nope 😛

Call it a gift from one brother to another, with regards to the Boldin trade.

O crap, how did I not think about that? Now it all makes sense 😀. "Sorry I beat you in the Superbowl, brah, here's a gift for you...one of the best WRs in the game for nothing, let's be BROS again!" - Is anyone writing about that angle of the trade? Seems like it could lead to an NFL/Goodell investigation

I doubt it'd be collusion. Grantland (http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-t...n-sent-packing-as-the-nfl-offseason-gets-busy) had a pretty good writeup.
And as for that price, well, all it takes a simple game of elimination to remove the vast majority of the league's teams and reveal just how small the potential trade market for Boldin would have been from Baltimore's perspective. It's safe to assume that the Ravens wouldn't want to deal Boldin to a team they had on the schedule during 2013, so it's right to rule out the AFC East, NFC North, the other teams in the AFC North, and the Broncos and Texans. That's half the league right there. Most of the remaining teams are either bad enough that Boldin would probably retire before going there (Jaguars, Raiders, Rams, Titans), capped out with massive holes elsewhere on the roster (Chargers, Redskins, Panthers), or already set at wide receiver (Cardinals, Cowboys, Eagles, Falcons, Giants, Saints). The Colts have a similar, arguably better player already on the roster in Reggie Wayne. The Buccaneers just signed Vincent Jackson to a mammoth deal, and the Chiefs did the same with Dwayne Bowe. That leaves two teams: the 49ers and the Seahawks, one of whom had just spent a first-round pick to acquire a wide receiver hours earlier. Where was the market for Boldin supposed to come from? San Francisco might have been Baltimore's only palatable trade option for Boldin, and it's likely that their sixth-round pick was the best offer available.

They almost released him on Friday, this way they get something out of it. SF takes a hit because now they have to account for his $6mil hit to the cap when they are already pretty strapped for space to begin with.

In other news, Nnamdi has been released.
