5150Joker im curious as to how high a fsb you were able to run, even if it wasnt 100% stable.

i just setup a P4B533 and had no problems at all getting it to 175fsb Cas2226 so far.

wow.....175 FSB...you sure have a "Titanium" processor......mine came close but not quite.
mine will do 150 FSB @ default...100% stable
160 FSB @ 1.700 v .....100% stable
165 FSB @ 1.775 v ......100% stable
but nothing higher even at 1.800 v......i dont want to go more higher on the voltage with air cooling though......

but guess what, i can run my samsung DDR 333 at DDR 435 :)
My system was completly stable at 160 FSB using 3:4 memory ratio. (5 hours of priem 95)
Testing 163FSB now with 3:4 memory ratio and it seems stable.....will run prime 95 overnight for complete testing.
My memory wont dont 3:4 ratio at 165 FSB (DDR 440)....hey its just DDR 333 and no heat spreader on it.......

i am still impressed with my Epox 4G4A+ board now.
Sandra memory scores are 3280 at DDR 435..........
1.6a running at 2600 Mhz.....i cant ask more.....

i am happy now.....i think that i will stop now....163 FSB with 3:4 memory ratio

Thugsrook, you have a "Titanium" processor and i have a "Titanium" memory :D ( i really like that 3280 sandra memory score ;) )

160 3:4 aint easy! nice one :)

the 3:4 ratio is worth about 10fsb over 1:1 mode on a 1.6A.
so concider 160fsb 3:4 equal to about 170 1:1 in term of gaming performance.

i dont get any ratios on this board :( but i will eventually find a way to hack the 4:5 ratio into it ;)
at my speed im better off with a 4:5 ratio than a 3:4.

i have 163 FSB with 3:4 memory ratio 100% stable right now.......
gonna go to sleep now.....will play more with this setup tomorrow and see how high i can go....

what would you recommend ?
165 FSB with 3:4 ratio ?
or
170 FSB with 4:5 ratio ?

also, my NB heatsink is pretty hot......i have to find a nice chipset fan for it now.

givin a choice?

its an interesting question - id have to see the benchmarks on that one ;)
id wonder if there wasnt a real difference between 3:4 and 4:5 at the same fsb.

i am counting on you

my 1.6a also likes 175 mhz...so when you do, i will have to dip in my pocket again!!!
thugs you are killing me

I don't know for sure, but I think you'd have to find a board that has 8x already.

When everyone was ocing the old bx chipset(2x capable), we were geting an overclocked 66mhz default
agp slot going to 100mhz( i am running 150mhz 0n a bx). i remember reading a technical article claiming that
that a 100mhz agp port was essencially transfering graphic data at 3x. to transfer data @8x might require a different port design and voltage (doubleing the mem ect.) alltogether.
i am sure everyone here would love 8x capabilities w/ just a bios flash.

heya Bobbyeyes,
ill start working on that hack as soon as im done having all my fun with the board. theres always a chance i might kill it :(

speaking of AGP speeds - my GF4 ti4400 wont work over 79mhz AGP, its sweet spot seems to be 71mhz in benchmarks. you gotta love an adjustable AGP & PCI bus ;)

Just a quick update on my install with the P4B533-V...

This motherboard smokes! I am very happy with this thing! Haven't benchmarked the memory yet, but it definitely feels faster than my old 8IRXP. Installation of WinXP was flawless. Right now, my 1.8A is running @ 2.4 with 1.625 volts. Had to use 1.65-1.675 with the 8IRXP. Everything on board is working as advertised as well! Can't play with it for the rest of the week. Am on vacation now at Deep Creek MD, and am typing on this sluggish POS Gateway Celeron system! Boy is my system going to seem to fly when I get home :) And to top it off, I am stuck with a dialup connection! ARGH! :(

This is definitely the board I would recommend for the P4! I see there are more success stories of the EPoX 4G4A+ now, so that may be a viable solution as well. I had my day in court with the 4G4A+, and sent it packing when I had to apply 1.8v and 2.7 volts to get the thing to complete 3D mark 2001 SE. I still think EPoX redisigned something on there new batch of boards? I had the BG7, but never actually recieved it as I had FedEx return it to Newegg. If I had a complaint about the P4B533-V, it would be (a) the price premium, and (b) the lack of onboard Raid. The latter can be accomplished with a add-on card though. In all honesty though, I would spend the money again on the P4B533-V as I think it was well worth it....

Forgot to mention, 1 of the things that I really like about the back I/O plate of the P4B533-V as well as the BG7 and 4G4A+, it has 4 of the 6 available USB ports on there. This allows me to not have any other cable brackets on the rear expansion slots. My case has front USB ports, so my 5th and 6th USB header is hooked to them. I don't use the onboard sound so the gameport cable is not in use, and niether is the COM2 port. The only COM device I have is my Pronto remote controll for the home theater system... Just makes the inside of the case with the window mod look neater...

When I get home, I will check the memory perfomance and post back...

i am able to boot to 175 Mhz (not tried any higher yet) to Windows XP and all programs work normally. The only problem is that Prime 95 fails within first 2 minutes and so......
i might give my CPU 1.850v (just to see the limit) and see how high it will go.

I have decided to stop at 160 FSB with 3:4 memory ratio since its stable at this speed and is more than enough. The system beats a PC1066 setup easily :)
now i am just wondering as to how soon my components (CPU and memory) will fry since i am providing high voltages to them (1.750 to CPU and 2.800 to Ram)

Okay I got my P4B533-V up and running finally.

Right now I'm I'm running my 1.6A at 160 FSB with the 4:5 Memory Divider which puts me at DDR 400. Woohoo! It's rock solid at this speed too. Ran Prime 95 for about 12 hours.

My Vcore is set to 1.700 in the bios but fluctuates between 1.664 and 1.78 in ASUS PC Probe. My other voltage rails are solid right where they should be: 12.032, 4.999, and 3.296. I love this Antec True 550! :) I have a question about this PS though can anyone else that has one tell what the RPM on their fan is? Mine runs at right around 1600 RPM, does that seem slow for a PS?

My memory (Samsung DDR 2700 from Newegg) is set to 2.5/3/3/6 at 2.65 Volts. Sandra benchmarks it at 3050/3048. Is there a benchmarking tool that will actually show you what the DDR speed is? And also the PCI/AGP MHz rating?

I think my temps are a bit high though. I run at 45 when idling and up to 59 in Prime 95, again with ASUS PC Probe. Should I be worried about those at all? I'm using the ALPHA cooler with AS3 and a 2900 RPM Sunon Fan. I can't believe how quiet this system runs compared to my old PIII setup.

3DMark 2001 SE Build 330 reports me at: 11467 with my Ti4400 at default speeds. I have my Aperture set to 128MB

THUGS: I also have the VisionTek Ti4400 and I get the exact same overclock as you. Anything higher than 295/645 it freezes up and reboots, but I backed mine down to 290/640 because it looked like I was getting a few artifacts here and there. At 295/645 I score 12334 and at 290/640 I get 12188.

I also have a BG7 here but I haven't tried it yet. I don't think I'm going to, I'm pretty happy with this board. I plan on getting an RMA for the Abit tomorrow.

Thanks for all the info everyone has posted on this thread and others, it was a great help!

Ahh...sweet. I've put AS3 on everything else why not that? :D

The northbridge had a thermal pad and a foam spacer around it. What a pain that was to get off. But it runs nice and cool now. :)

Thanks man!
