Woo hoo!!! Got my board today and am up and running at 11x210 (2315 MHz) rock solid @ 1.80V (kinda high, I know) but temps @ load right now are 42C, ambient case temp 19-22C. Actually broke 14,000 on 3DM 01! Also, something that was a bit strange, I got a Rev 1.04 back but when I pried off the NB heatsink, there wasn't a metal heatspreader on the NB. If I'm not mistaken, only the newer revision chipsets didn't have that heatspreader. The chip said nForce2 SPP, not Ultra 400, but you think there's a chance?

u talking to me?

i think i figured it out, i changed my mem setting back to default, and 200X11 went pretty good, i'm now trying out 200x11.5 to see if that will stay stable

Yeah, I was thinking you could run mem timings like 2-2-3-7 or something, just so Ras to Cas was 3.

Just a little comment.

I've had my ASUS A7N8X for over a month now. Everything is perfect. Its VERY fast, no problems at all, not even with unnified drivers 2.45. Highly recomendable and another happy user on ASUS' list.

Also would like to recomend A7N8X-X. Good one too, I must say.

I too Just got an A7N8X Deluxe Motherboard along w/ a Barton 2500+, and a Gig of Bufallo Pc3200 w/ Winbond CH-5 chips, so far it works fine at 3200+, and 2,3,3,7 I also raised the voltage to 1.75 volts just to be safe running w/ an SK-6+ and a 50.2 CFM sunnon 80mm fan, temps are 49C w/ a case temp of 30C, my AC isn't working and its kinda hot but still not bad temps under full load w/ my setup, fairly happy w/ the Asus board and am looking into getting a Raptor or possibly upgrading my video card once I get some more cash :) In the next month or so. I may lower the mult. and try and see how far I can push the FSB, my system will actualy post at 2.5ghz w/ 1.8 volts it's just not stable, I'm considering better cooling but untill my AC gets fixed I'm prob not gonna try and push it farther. the Last asus board I had was a Cusl2 for my old P3 733@825, so its been awhile since I've used asus, but so far I've been fairly happy, I even ditched my SB audigy to use the onboard soundstorm, so far I can't really tell a difference for games, although I think the MCP-T sound a little bit better for music, the only thing that really annoys me about the MCP-T is that it disables the tone controls in the Vol. section, anyone know a way to get those to work w/ the nvidia drivers?

I also have another small prob. when scrolling in IE w/ my mouse sometimes is causes static or skipping? issues w/ my Music playing in winamp, this didn't happen w/ my SB audigy. Is there any way around this? I think I saw something about this at nforcers in the fourms but didn't see a fix.... Any help would be great...

My A7N8X had those sound issues and I spent considerable time searching for and implimenting fixes. Nothing worked. I think that when a board has that problem there is no cure except for RMA. My new nforce2 board has no sound issues whatsoever.
What improved it the most was using the Realtek sound driver. There are links to it at AMDMB.com forums. You lose a little sound quality with it though. Also you have to use the Realtek control panel instead of nvidia's. It's not as good.

The thing that kills me is that it doesn't happen all the time, only sometimes, it's realy weird, and I can't always reproduce it, I may just live with it since it doesn't happen that often and I can always use the arrow keys to scroll in IE, I'm not to Keen of having to RMA my board to newegg and wait for a rep. that may have the same issue

If it doesn't happen all the time it may be fixable. Have you tried putting the volume down to about 1/3 and muting everything but master, wave and synth?

I'm ordering my Asus a7n8x deluxe and I was wondering, how can I tell I am getting rev. 2? I am ordering from new egg? Or are all the Asus a7n8x deluxes they sell now are rev. 2?

Thanks.

There is a chance you can get a rev 1.04, but I highly doubt it. Those were phased out a while ago. You'll get your rev 2.0, don't worry about it. If you look at the discription it shows that the board is 400 fsb compatible right off the bat, meaning its a rev 2.0.

Its quite easy. You must only look for the big sticker that says "nForce 2 ULTRA 400" then you'll know you're getting v.2.0

Arcanedeath what motherboard version are you using? If its the Deluxe version, then there's your problem: you MUST get Realtek's drivers first.

Here's a way to check what the specs are on your AMD Athlon processor: :Q:heart:

http://mp3.zonebg.com/cpu/cpu.php (AMD CPU ID)

This'll help answer your question on what you actually have. But since you need the code from the top of the CPU, you might want to jot the specs down BEFORE you install the CPU and HS.

Happy OC'ing!

it was posted earlier in this thread but it's worth repeating

SAVE after every bios change and then SAVE & EXIT

I had been doing this but got impatient after having to clear cmos and changed all my settings from default at once, save and exit and..........dead board.

I'm using a Version 2.0 A7N8X Deluxe, I wasn't aware you need the real tech driver as isn't it just doing the Digital to Analouge Conversion? and isn't the NForce DSP processing everything but this conversion?
So if I install the Real tech driver will I nead to reload the Nforce sound drivers or Have to use Realtech's? and will realtechs driver take advantage of the MCT-T? any further suggestions would be great

I was wondering if someone can point me to a link with the IDE utility program as mentioned in one of the previous posts. Unfortunately the link got taken down. My problem is very slow CDROM drives (2mb read for a 52x Asus)

Thanks,

Peter

I just use the Nvidia driver, never even thought of using the Realtek driver.

I am getting the A7N8X in a short while. I have run through the boards for a while, but still have a question: Is there a definitive answer to whether I should reformat my HD/reinstall WinXP or just update the drivers after swapping out my mobo? I'd prefer (of course) the latter, but will I run into alot of problems that way? I've read that with some people it worked fine, others had problems. Just Be conservative and backup everything before giving it a try? Is it worth giving a try? Thanks.
