Apparently.

A lot of good case studies reagarding children born as a result of incest.
That's the absolute truth.
2 examples:
My wife went to Concord college in WV. She had a roomie that got pregnant. Now get this: She didn't know whether the baby's father was her boyfriend, his brother, or his father.....so they built a room on to the trailer (yes, a trailer) and moved her in with all of them.

My wife's ex had been married before. His previous wife had been "broken in by Daddy". And admitted it. And this was NOT unusual.

Stereotypes exist for a reason, and that reason is that at some time, they were or are true.

They WV stereotype of incest, no teeth, hillbilly, etc, is still very much true in many places up there.

Yeah, it's the absolute truth because you have two specific examples. Where did you get your degree in statistics? Mail order?

Being from Virginia I know my WV sheep jokes, but it's really quite a nice state. They have some nice resorts and cool places to take ATV rides. I know alot of people that live up there and commute to the metro area to work. If there was more work up there I would go myself but I don't feel like making the commute all the way back to DC.

i enjoy wv (lived here all my life). the scenary, we have a couple decent schools, millions of outdoor recreational things to do, dupont. However we are plagued with low paying jobs or just non-existent employment. As for all the jokes about hillbillies and such, they're definitely a few around, most are just people that aren't into the social norms as what most people perceive to be a must. They are some parts of the state that do kinda scare me though, around the southern border with kentucky has a different lifestyle than the other areas of wv.

As for the movie wrong turn, they didn't even film it in WV. I've never seen woods to look like that around here, and definitely haven't seen any people like that.

I believe they're the leading jurisdiction on corporate law...their statutes are really pro-business so a lot of big national companies incorporate there.

But as for the state itself, I've driven through a couple times and it just seemed like miles of bad road.

The post I quoted from Red Dawn said, "A lot of good case studies".
I never said I didn't know of more examples (I do).
I merely gave a couple to confirm that the rumors are not just rumors, and not just jokes/stereotypes.

You might want to try and READ THE WHOLE POST before you jump in and make yourself look like a fool.
You know, sentences like this:
hey WV stereotype of incest, no teeth, hillbilly, etc, is still very much true in many places up there.
And I stand by that statement. Travel through the state and you'll find it's true.

BTW, there is a LOT of beautiful scenery in WV. I recommend Canaan Valley to anyone. They have an absolutely magnificent championship golf course, and 2 ski resorts, plus lots of other activities.

At least WV has pretty landscapes.

MUCH more useless states than West Virginia:
New Jersey
North Dakota
Florida

Amusing, considering that you're from North Carolina.

All those redneck states are the same. Even in Florida, once you get outside Miami, the state is infested with toothless hicks.
No more than you see if you go up to the areas around Pittsburgh, or any of the rural areas up North. There are just as many rednecks, they just have a different accent.

I've been living here for 30 years and have yet to run into anybody that said they were "broken in by Daddy". Give me a break. Incest here is no more common then any other state in this country. We do have our no teeth hillbillies though but then so do a lot of states.
