http://www.anandtech.com/show/10520/msi-shows-new-radeon-rx-480-gaming-cards

"8.0 Gbps GDDR5" for both 4GB and 8GB version, if that true, MSI RX480 4GB are actually 8GB.

Not necessarily true as they may be producing a limited quantity using 4Gb 25ns (8Gbps) chips, but now I'm going to have to keep an eye on the 4GB MSI cards and spring for at least one to dissect. I'm more curious about the physical chips on the Sapphire Nitro 4GB, so as soon as I get mine I'll be taking those apart as well.

Nitro is 7gbps, its safe to say those are 4GB chips.

EDIT: the Msi is 7Gbps as well, its a error on anadtech article :(

AMD cuts price of RX480 8gb in India for the second time from $400 to $340 and RX480 4gb from $340 to $310.So now
GTX1060 - $340
RX480 8gb - $340
RX480 4gb - $310
RX480 still overpriced by $20 each for both models.GTX1060 remains the recommended card even at these new price points.

Hmm I see Sapphire Nitro availability at the end of August, EVGA GTX 1060 from 29th July, PNY from 5th of August and the majority of 1060s from September.

As i have said before, availability for both AMD and NV 14/16nm will be better in September. Time for August holidays, then new hardware purchases ;)

Is AMD selling directly in India? Did AMD announce any price cuts?

It's one thing to see retailers drop prices towards the MSRP, and a completely different situation to hear AMD dropped their chip prices.

yea, there is no AMD price cuts its just the retailers adjusting prices. Prices will get lower around the Globe as volumes will increase (September) and competition progress.

AMD themselves announced the price cut. They were rightly embarrassed that rx480 was much more expensive than 1060.

This is certainly not retailer price cut. This is the second time AMD has cut price of rx480 in a span of 30 days. It was originally $430 but now its down to $340 after 2 official price cuts.
Needs another $20-30 cut.

Be happy then, everywhere else 480s are getting more expensive every day.

I also like how there is no source to your source :p. I mean if it was official, then they would link to the press announcement right?
And it doesn't help that all the listings in India are at or above MSRP :

Like I said when I made my thread before it got locked. The rx 480 was originally promised at $200. Then amd added a 4gb model (8gb model renamed to 4gb model yay!) and charged more, and all of a sudden now prices are well above the original $200 this card was supposed to be.

This card is way overpriced from what was originally promised.

This is a SERIOUS warning. Everyone has proved you wrong, so STOP the trolling.

You can buy an RX 480 for $200. It's 4gb, and its reference, but you can buy it. That meets the promise. Can you show something where the 8GB version was promised at $200, because I never recall seeing that promise ever made.

Gibbo from Overclockers UK said the following:

Sapphire manage to get us more than the promised 30pc early delivery, it is now around 100 units which all being well should ship today. This 100 is mixed between 4G and 8G however.

Next lot just shipped today, which was a further 60-100 units and hopefully more will ship this weekend.

AMD are also aware that we have nearly 10,000 units of RX 480 on backlog, of which Sapphire accounts for over 50%, as such AMD are also moving more GPU to fulfill OcUK PO's.

We are now no.1 in the world for RX 480 sales on an end-user based level. Right now we are actually turning away mining orders on RX 480 to ensure it is gamers getting first dibs.

As mining is kicking off again on RX 480, but we are refusing to take orders until there is enough stock to cope with gamers and mining demand, gamers come first.

10000 on back-order for one shop in the UK!

The 4GB reference model is $200. Actually it is $199. I bought one, it is real. It is also accidently 8GB for that $199. I don't know how anyone can complain about that sort of value.

I set up text alerts for now in stock for a couple of 1070's I'm waiting on. Pretty sure if you set up text alerts you can have one. Just tap the link, add to cart, checkout.
