The Boston Red Sux

Yankees Yankees Yankees Yankees Yankees Yankees Yankees Yankees Yankees

We're number one 'cause we're the Yankees
We're number one 'cause we play to win ......................................

Betting on pitching would have made you lose the A's series. The A's had better pitching than the Sox.

However the Red Sox have bombed the Yankees this year. Its going to be another good series.
I just don't know if I can take another series like the Oakland one.

The only team that's trying to buy a championship are Red Sox. The team entirely made of free agents.... Talk about hypocracy. At least yankees have a core of players from our farm system.

sorry.the Redsox have a great chance at eliminating the Yankees.
for one, the Yankees had a far weaker 1st round opponent.

for two:The Yankees pitching staff isnt even in the same league with Oaklands.

bring on the Yankees, this isnt 1999..these Redsox have teeth.

I couldn't have said it better... btw what the hell was thrown at Mirabelli last night? I heard it was trash, that could have seriously injured someone. On a good note, at least NY fans have class and don't throw sht on the field like the trailor trash from Oakland. It'll make for a great series for two teams who have respect for each other and the game.

I disagree, Twins are a much better team. Oakland has a history of choking. They lost 9 series clinching games in a row. Furthermore, Twins have much better hitting that A's and two of A's best pitchers were hurt.

One thing you're right about, though, this isn't 1999 where Red Sox didn't even stand a chance against the Yankees team in its prime. Good luck - i can't wait until tomorrow.

AL central wasn't that weak, it had 3 decent teams that kept beating on each other. Go to ESPN.com and compare stats. Twins have much better hitting that A's. A's do have better pitching but two of their aces were hurt. So yes, I stand by my statement. And FYI twins did beat the A's in ALDS last year.

And the Twinkies are better this year than last. However all this talk amounts to BS as the series will be decided on the field not by some Dweebs on the Internet

that was last year.
very few people would argue the twins were better than the a's this year or last year regardless of the series outcome.
the central had some decent teams with the best winning a meager 90 games.(after playing out of their minds to end the season)
Oakland allowed signficiantly less runs than the Twins ...period.
and won more games with a more formiddable division rival.
simply put, if the twins were in ANY other division, they would have been sitting home.

IS Johnny Damon going to be in game 1?

Yup, Sox are going to be tough this year, moreso than 99.... It will be a relief to be finally face right handed pitching, and left handed pitching Sox can hit...

Position by position, these teams are pretty evenly matched. True, the Yanks have a couple more quality starters than the Sox, but the only pitchers who survive in the playoffs are power pitchers. Power pitching, meaning your big strikeout guys like Moose and Pedro and Prior and Wood. Finesse pitchers will always be hammered in the playoffs, mainly because once they tire (like Zito did) their fastball no longer complements their finesse pitches like curves and sliders (and will get hammered). Finesse pitchers like Pettite can be successful only if they locate well the whole time.

In the power pitching department, it's one to one: Pedro and Mussina. After that, anything is possible. No, I don't rank Rocket as a power pitcher because he's not on the level of your Pedro's, Moose's, Prior's and Wood's this year. Also, the Sox have hammered him like a pinata a month ago and he will have to pitch at Fenway so I don't see him as an advantage for the Yanks.

Closing wise, the Yanks have a slight edge with Rivera, but his wheels are starting to fall off this year.

Where Sox lose the closer edge they make up in hitting. Both teams are agressive on the basepaths. Both teams aren't solid defensively, both teams have ailing bullpens, and both teams have their injuries. I honestly can't think of a year where they are more evenly matched...

Oakland was a better team than the Twinkies?! You must be on CRACK. Oakland ranked number TWO in pitching in THE LEAGUE (only behind LA). Twinkies were SIXTEENTH. Oakland only finished 3 spots behind Minnesota in batting in the AL as well. Want to eat your words now?

I grew up in Brooklyn and only moved ti CT 2 years ago. If you don't know what you're talking about - just keep quiet. It's more interesting how all you red sox fans came out of the woodwork all of a sudden. Where were you all these past years?

And one last time - Oakland may have been number two in pitching. But their best 2 (that's TWO) pitchers couldn't pitch and their 3rd best pitcher was on 3 days rest. That's a huge blow for a team that relies on pitching to win games.

Wheels falling off Rivera??? LMAO. Tell that to Twins hitters. They couldn't get the ball out of infield on 12 attempts.

Hah nice pic of that ahole getting dragged out of the stadium! That's probably what Hudson looked like after the bouncers had to break up his fight. Link to article with witnesses at club Q testifying about Hudson getting piss drunk the night before he had to pitch. Also has pic of the type of women Zito and Hudson try to pick up (nasty ass chicks).

Boston and NY fans don't HATE each other, we HATE each other's teams. My best friend is a Yankees fan and we've been friends since 4th grade, what are you new? In general, the fans have a respect for each other and are well behaved at their respective stadiums (I would provide you the link to an espn.com article detailing how well behaved and what good fans Yankee fans are, but I'm too lazy, do a search it was on Page 2.)
