Offloaded 25% of my silver stack at $72, most of it was bought around $16 in 2015. Saw that the price broke $80 over the weekend. Might sell some more if it gets near 80 again.

I'm still sporting a 2010 build(early 2011 perhaps)...and really need an upgrade. Contemplating a Ryzen 9 build.

Up until July 2025, I too was using a 2011 Sandybridge CPU and was happy with it. After upgrading to a U7 265K some graphics intensive webpages animated so smoothly it was surprising. I also used to have a couple of WDC 10K raptors back around 2006. After spending lots of money on them and convincing myself there were so much faster than 7.2k drives I realized the speed bump was not worth the extra money. Ahh the good old days.

I still have two 7.2 1GB platter drives that I wiped after upgrading to SSD for backups and media storage. The platter disks are reliable workhorses and probably can still be used for cold storage versus DVD which I also use. I have seen old DVDs degrade and fade away to where they cannot be read anymore.

I bought a movie from Ebay that is very rare and I could not find online made back in the early 1990s. It barely works with lots of cajoling and skipping as it has faded to near transluncency.

I was still using an old 2012 cpu until the PSU died. I'll replace it. But I did buy 2 mini pcs for crunching. The old chip is just fine. Plus I've got an old HP laptop. Newer than the pc tho.

ah yeah those 10k RPM raptors were super fast (and super loud!)

i had one as the boot drive until i replaced it with an intel x25 SSD back in 2010

eventually i got tired of any HDD noise and delay at all and went to all SSDs

My main PC is a HP Omen form around 2020. I trade on a MacBook Air.

I really wanted an RTX 2070 and they were still pretty expensive back then. Really wanted to play Witcher 3 on three monitors. The 2070 ran it like a boss.

I got the Omen for like $700 off at Best Buy. $1500 total iirc.

I currently cant trade futures but wish I could have traded it. It has been violent lately for shorts and longs both sides getting killed. But in lala land...you make money. 😉

i bought some GLD for the heck of it in my IRA last year and it's done crazy good

can't decide if i want to ride it out a little longer, or sell it and put the money back into my usual asset allocation

About 10 years ago I decided to diversify 1% each into Silver, Gold, and Bitcoin. I've made a nice gains with all three. Have taken money out of both Bitcoin and Silver and am playing with mostly house money in those. Haven't touched the gold even though it's more than doubled. Gold is definetly harder to move without overhead. Even though I've put way more money into my main stocks and etfs over the past decade, Silver is up to 2.7%, Bitcoin is up to 10%, and Gold is down to 0.25% of the portfolio, not counting my retirement funds, whicvh are also just etf's. Granted I didnt put much into gold until early 2020 so I didnt get a lot of that growth.
