**Official 2026-27 NFL Off-season Thread - First Doesn't Equal Right**

Haven't done an NFL thread in a few years. But Free Agency as usual is full of over-spending, desperate teams throwing money at big names and warm bodies. There's always a team that wins the off-season and it usually doesn't work out. You have exceptions, like the Patriots spending the MOST money in the offseason and they made the SB but got their asses kicked. Seattle spent the 4th most and they won the SB. Congrats. I have absolutely NOTHING against the Chickens.

One of the biggest misconceptions in all of football is that a team is "one player away" as if the next season is going to play out exactly as the previous one did with a new player making a handful of plays not previously made to get a team to a Superbowl.

That leads to teams doing dumb shit and overpaying for big names. The Rams are winning the offseason. Throwing record setting cash at a fucking slot corner. It could work out but everything has to go perfectly or its a failure.

The Bears are usually the dummies overpaying and still losing.

Who is the dumbest team so far and who is the more calculated and pragmatic?

Love to hear your thoughts!!!

Crosby for 2 first rounders is a little iffy given his age (29?). However, other than last year I don't remember him being hurt much, so if he can stay healthy, dude's still a beast!

I do like the 9ers - Evans signing though. At least initially. If he's healthy he's going to be a great asset even at his age. But health and 49ers don't really mix so I wouldn't be surprised if he gets hurt and misses most of the season on this team.

Evans has been one of my favorite players and that's a solid signing. Brandon Iyuk is gone for sure. Niners I think has a legit shot at that division. I think San Fran prioritizes fit over big names, which is why I have them finishing above LA.

Crosby costs way too much for a guy almost 30. I get it. Baltimore's pass rush was bad. But at that price? I don't know if I would have done that.

LA spent something like $58 million on 2 corners. NFC west still going to be dominant division. I heard Evans' contract has incentives that keep his salary around what Jennings is asking for if Evans gets hurt early and/or often.

Oh, and Aiyuk will be lucky if anyone signs him for a fraction of what he was set to make in SF. Any team that throws money at him is taking a huge risk. I don't know if it was drugs, or bad advice from people he surrounds himself with, or both, but dude literally set his career on fire.

Yea his whole situation was just bonkers. Literally threw his career down the drain, and for who knows what.

At least the Giants haven't done anything stupid yet. There is still time, but in Harbaugh I must believe.

And everything comes full circle, the Jets trade for Geno Smith and he is back on their roster after a long hiatus. Too funny.

sucks to be the Raiders. 😛

Is it officially the 2026 year now? When should the Official 2026 NFL thread kickoff? Lots of FA action going on.
League year officially starts tomorrow.
Hopefully OP can add the Super Bowl poll to this thread in a few months. Activity here is low enough that we had one thread for the entire 2025 season. 😀

Yeah, he's a fucking clown and having a blown ACL, he should have made sure nothing would torpedo that contract.

I bet its some morons in his inner circle that was telling him "stand on business" or some stuff like that.

Usually, it is over bad advice.

Ravens back out of Crosby deal due to issues found during physical.

Yep, we know.

Ahh the Raiders lol And now the Ravens signed Hendrickson. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...-agree-sign-trey-hendrickson-4-year-112m-deal

That was quick work. Good on the Ravens.
