Good advice.... long-term things will be fine don't panic and do dumb stuff.
yup, long term we'll be fine, as evidenced by history.
short term, I see more pain.

incubation period for the chrono virus is 2weeks.
go short at end of day. 2weeks from today ( 3/20), re-evaluate.

Oil:
I also predict as we get closer to April, both the Saudi's and Russia will end their game of chicken and work out a deal to try to stabilize oil prices.

I don't think either one wants the nuclear option of everyone in Opec producing at max output in April during these times

I'd expect layoffs to start sometime before the end of the month as companies and small biz start coming out of the shock of losing essentially all their customers overnight and move to preserve whatever cash they've got hoping to make it through to the other side of this alive. The market can do whatever in the meantime.

My hours are being cut next week and would not be surprised to get laid off entirely for awhile since 90% of our business is/was corporate travel to airports.

Yea talk to anybody in transportation, hospitality, entertainment, or food service right now and it's quite clear what is about to happen.

well news of layoffs will be offset by the unemployment/sick leave package offered by the govt.

what will sink the market more is the ever increasing # of chrono virus cases in the US, and more importantly, MAJOR increases in deaths!
Cull of the elderly and of the sick...

buy stock in funeral homes and casket builders?

I am thinking more along the lines of Peloton and any On Demand service for Movies/TV (Verizon). People still want to work out and if you're stuck at home, you'll be ripping through your movie to-do list.

My guess is food delivery will be booming too.

My wife will likely find out today if her hours get cut. Wednesday was a bloodbath of cancelled reservations and that was before Trump's new travel ban. She works at an ecolodge and March-May is prime season for them (nesting season for the photogenic species).

Words on Wall Street that the Fed could have another rate cut soon. Even 0% by the end of this year if this virus thing/meltdown is getting worse and not better.

Wow. Just wow. Gold is falling hard. Miners are crumbling. NUGT plunged nearly 50% today to near $6!

There is something rotten in Denmark. I suspect this was meant to send a message of some sort to not buy gold or short the dollar.

Thou shalt only buy stocks - or else!

Stocks are on a wild ride. Dow is currently up nearly 2k points. That is probably because of the speech Trump is giving.

Are you reassured that all is well?

I think it was more options related. Apple surged over 8% in the final 30 minutes of trading. Intel was up 11%.

Ah. Didn't Apple reopen their factories in China today?

The factories have been open for some time I think. How much they are producting is another question, but demand has to be so low right now they may not be short.

They did reopen most of the stores in China yesterday.

Got lucky and made about $5200 usd on AMD today at the moment (it's still in after hours.)

Edit: Welp at the close of after hours my gain is down to $3600. Bought it yesterday at $40.3 and now it's 42.7 at the end of after hours. With that it tells how many $ I put in the trade but many of you have bought shares in general for much more. It could easily get erased in 1 or 2 days but I can feel good about this one trade for about another 20 hours. Overall my mutual funds are getting hammered since Feb 21..

Damn, thinking about putting my $10K playing money into the market, just for kick. Win, lose, or draw.
