Lending Tree did nothing but drop today. Maybe it'll bounce tomorrow. I should probably dig some on that stock but I'm feeling pretty lazy.

What's funny is I made a little on CHK today. Couple hundred bucks.

That's the first time I've ever owned CHK in any way, shape, or form.

I've been playing high/low with OLED the past few weeks and its worked out pretty well but I feel uncomfortable.

I've been selling weekly low puts and high covered calls and OLED has cooperated by sitting in the middle. I can absorb one more batch if the puts get exercised but I'd really rather not. Something about the stock just doesn't sit right. I'd rather just get out.

Musk bought another $25 million worth of Tesla stock on Monday and Tuesday. That's chump change to him since he owns so many shares already but I love the fact he puts his money where his mouth is and how much his interest is aligned with success of Tesla. If we get decent pullback, I'm also going to buy more and commit Tesla Roadster money into Tesla shares. With 30% of the float short, there's plenty of fuel left for further melt up.

$45 by EOY. Puts are green. Still holding for more gains. Short intel, it's basically free money. Put premiums are minuscule and we all know where this story ends (at least regarding stock price).

Conversely, AMD hit $17. I would have bet over 9000 internets that would not have happened in 2018.

Im still afraid to buy AMD though. It seems as though when I finally get on something it starts a downtrend, ex: MU @ $61 sold at $49.

I don't follow the PC market anymore and only bought AMD at $10.18 right before the earnings because you guys were talking about how undervalued it was and all the great products in the pipeline. I sold 50% after earnings after $1 pop to lock in some profits and been riding the remaining 50% up. What's reasonable target to exit? $20? Or are you guys thinking even higher?

I'm strapped in and riding this till 2019, some great products releasing in the pipeline in the 2nd half of the year and with the 7nm releasing sometime next year. First time in a decade that AMD is taking market shares in the server business away from Intel.

Still holding both sides of the INTC/AMD coin. I am getting a bit wary on INTC and mail bail soon, but I want to see if I can at least get a bounce back from yesterday. Still up over 70% on it.

Anybody look at TRXC since I mentioned it? Still holding and it has done just fine so far. Nice little lotto ticket so far.

I grabbed a number of shares at $4.60. my later buy orders timed out at $5 (only dropped to 5.05 or something that day, lol), $9, and $10 over the last ~2 years. Kinda frustrating, but whatever.

Intel is kinda on the ropes (temporarily), and AMD happens to be in a good position right now if they are able to execute through 1H 2019, and it really looks like they are with EPYC 2 at that point. Adoption hasn't really ramped up yet, and honestly that was what I was looking at 2 years ago. I didn't really know they were this far out in releasing product, but I knew it was "soon," and of course no one knew anything about the future spectre/meltdown issues and that Intel's node problems were as bad as they are.

Still, I wouldn't be comfortable buying in at $15 right now. I like $12, but I also believe they will hit $20 this year. I thought that would happen last year, but then I don't know anything.

I was planning to sell at $10 (I bought almost exactly 2 years ago). Then $12. Then $15. ....I'm waiting for at least $20.

Also, I'm an idiot. Don't listen to me.

but here's the deal: I was expecting them to grab back about 5% of the server/data market, which really would be a huge deal for them. Intel CEO is currently signalling that he's worried about them grabbing 15-20%. That's nuts. It really is. It's probably a late 2019 thing, though, if it can happen.

The funds are in AmeriTrade. I would need any returns (i.e. dividends or interest) plus the sale to be equal to (or better) than the fund starting amount.

Sale amount + dividends or interest = starting amount - trade cost.

Not looking to make a lot just need to break even any gains over deposit rate a bonus.

I have been looking at TLT. Would this be a safe choice?

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Safe and liquid narrows the options quite a bit. Stable value funds, guaranteed investment contracts, money market funds, and certificates of deposits are your better choices (US treasuries could be put in there too). That bond fund that you suggested lost more than 4% in the last year, as bonds are only somewhat stable.

Your other option is to invest in something like stocks that are more likely to make a good return and then get a loan with them as collateral when you need the money next year. The amount that you invest will help determine if this is worth the hassle.

I did get in the lotto ticket when you first mention it. First stock I own that IR is actively involved in answering questions and educate about their product.

Let the drum roll begin. Did FIVR's confident prediction come true? What happens when we "watch an' learn" his techniques?

Actual result 6 months later:
AMD is currently at $11.03 (up 2.0% from ~$10.81 his posting price, but far from his $20 prediction). Even if we give FIVR the maximum closing price in any of those 6 months, it was $13.74.

INTC is currently at $52.67 (up 13.2% from ~$46.54 his posting price, and far from his $30s prediction). Even if we give FIVR the minimum closing price in any of those 6 months, it was $42.50.

Just a reminder to everyone that @dullard is completely uninformed about technology, stocks, and probably anything else you ask him about. How is that prediction looking now? AMD share price is 16.70 and it was over 17 yesterday. Looks like my $20 prediction was only a few weeks off. Where is intel now? Down from where I shorted it at $55. Where is TSLA since I moved 70% of my portfolio? Up 25% to over 370 yesterday.

So if you want a good idea how to make money, follow my posts. If you want to lose money and be uniformed, listen to @dullard.


For example, just take a look at his recent posts in the CPU forums. Like 6 different posters have tried to explain to this idiot that you can't just skip 10nm and go to "10nm+" because the process is iterative, but he still doesn't understand. Literally the dumbest poster I've ever seen on this forum. Enjoy your losses dullard, I'm up over 130% YTD and you can only dream of the kind of profits I make on a daily basis.

I read the story about the Intel CEO talking about the 15-20% server market. That's pretty big. We shall see.

I added more Tesla today. Saboteur or whistleblower story is negatively weighing on the stock. I was looking for pullback to add to the position. This is about the price level Musk purchased his recent $25 million stock purchase.
