A horse collar?

o_O

How could he horse collar with his hand on the facemask/shoulder area?

Because his hand was on the shoulder, as you said. Don't know about you, but that's closer to my neck than the front of my face, where a horsecollar would happen. I was watching Sherman's hand the whole time on that play and only saw it on the shoulder, and the jerking motion that pulled him down. It looked close--obviously not directly from the back of the collar, but the way he was pulled down looked like the way you fall with a horsecollar, so I thought that is what the ref responded to.

Only on the replay did I notice that it was more to the front of the shoulder and that he might have grazed his face in the process, but he didn't.

Either why, we both saw the wrong thing. Happy?

That makes 2 weeks in a row that Sherman was 100% right about BS calls made against him. :D

Tough for the ref to call that one correctly, his hand just grazed his facemask so it should have been the 5yrd variety if anything. Great game though, neither team is giving an inch..

I thought they got rid of the 5yd facemasking penalty a year or so ago. I thought they are all 15 yarders now.

Thank you, Mr. Elliott. So, how many points will the refs give Seattle tonight? 14? Will Richard Sherman be allowed to just shoot Brady in the head? Will the Patriots be penalized for allowing blood on the field if he does?

TBO there was contact initiated by Gronk and continued by Kam, I don't like that play call there, Blount did get stuffed before but by inches, I don't see him getting stuffed again. Shit, it was the dumb idea by Carrol that cost them a SB, only 3 things can happen when you pass and 2 of them are bad.

I have a totally irrational hatred of the Seahawks. I need a safe space. :p

Stupid trying to QB sneak twice. Just hammer it in with Blount which you've already done three times successfully. Gronk made contact by Kam held him. Should have been PI. Can't turnover the ball and too many blown coverages by NE's secondary.

Maybe that's why Brady said "Scooby Doo" every time he ran the sneak - it was "Ruh Roh" time.

Poor Saints. I don't know what it is, but I just don't like Pete Carroll. Like I said, it's irrational. I can't explain it.

I hate Pete Carroll, too. He is scum. Once Wilson is gone or done, I will be done with the Seahawks.

Kam held him because Gronk shoved him to the ground. Both made contact, but Gronk initiated. It was classic case of a proper no call.

Yea, the Edeleman fumble was a killer and the secondary was caught out of position way too many times tonight, Wilson being deadly accurate most of the time didn't help either. IMO there should have been a flag because Gronk can't make that catch while he's being held but they shouldn't have been in that position in the first place, Seattle is a great team and you give them 2 extra possessions WILL bite you in the ass.

I saw the Seattle/NE game on delay, and after the last play I expected much more crying in this thread. The only thing I kinda question is Carroll going for 2 instead of making it an 8 point game. I get wanting to win the game right then and there, but making a 2 point conversion on Seattle's goal line D is pretty hard to do, even if its the Patriots. Anyways, having Wilson semi mobile makes such a huge difference. I wouldnt mind seeing this again in the Super Bowl, but those damn Cowboys might ruin it. And the AFC West teams are all going to be tough outs.

Wilson was phenomenal last night and for the first time this season looked to be his old self. I suppose that rolled off onto the backs, because they were able to gain positive yards for the first time. But I miss Lynch, that guy was the soul of this team. Twice, Prosise got knocked to the ground or stopped on a one-on-one where Lynch would have just flattened those dudes.

And it was the best game I have seen so far this season. Patriots pretty clearly on their way to the AFCC game at least. I hope it's Patriots v Oakland, with Oakland getting some much-needed revenge, though.

Arizona and Atlanta are basket cases and Cowboys are the only consistent team in the NFC. Redskins are spoilers though, and only a weak secondary away from being a top-tier NFC team this year, imo.

That was a great no-call at the end of the game. Glad the refs finally let them play and didn't change the outcome of a game on some ticky tacky call.

Redskins SHOULD be 6-3, could very easily be 7-2, and had Kirk not had a slow start and not throw that pick at the end against the Cowboys, would probably be 8-1 right now.

Agreed. Skins are a better team than their record and way better than people give them credit, considering the typical slow start. Their primary weakness as I see it remains the same though: throw the ball towards wherever Breelund is on the field and you're going to get a positive play, possibly some points. Norman has been pretty good but not spectacular. It doesn't help that the rest of the secondary is suspect.

They don't seem to have any flash on offense, but their running game has been pretty dominant with the 3 Back system, and Jamison Crowder is developing into a dependable play-maker. Dude has great hands and speed. Reid, Crowder, Garcon (instant 1st down, kinda like Boldin), the welcome return of Vernon Davis, and (a never healthy) Jackson makes for a nice squad for the next ~3 years. But they need to try and do something with D Jackson. Probably try to deal him for some mid-to-late round picks asap and hunt free agency for a veteran replacement that can extend the field.

Cousins kinda reminds me of Kurt Warner, obviously not as accurate and consistent, though. Maybe it's just the system that is similar to those amazing St Louis teams.
