Except, this isn't an isolated incident. Had this been any other player, a small fine MIGHT have been levied. Except, this wasn't any other player, it was one with repeated dangerous actions.

I think the 49ers are going to be stuck with Kaep and that is about it. Hyde looks good, but their team is going to fall apart IMO.

The problem is, I don't think they have a rule about that or a precedence set... so ejecting a player for it isn't really the way the NFL does things. What I could see them doing though is starting a new rule next year which could say "three separate instances of this behavior results in expulsion from the NFL"

Until such a rule is clear all they have are fines and single game suspensions unfortunately.

So this means that if JJ Watt did the same thing, he would be gone for a game. I find it hard to believe that they're not considering Suh's history...but I do think that the NFL's new "Golden Boy" is off-limits as Tom Brady is off-limits.

At any rate, the same article even confirms that Ed Reed has a suspension overturned for late hits, so I think Suh has a shot here.

They already put in place player conduct rules that can result in permanent suspension from the NFL, or expulsion. So, if they just expand that to everything, including player safety violations, I think a lot of people would be fine with that. Have the rules and an appeal process set up so that people aren't getting removed due to questionable hits and it would be perfectly fine. If a player has 3 incidents, they are gone. Maybe have them drop off at a rate of 1 per 16 games without an incident.
 
Brady just restructured his contract to free up $24 million for the Pats. Looks like Brady values having good teammates more than a few extra million.

That's why they're always in contention for a Superbowl every year. Now I don't like Brady -- I think he's a whiner and complainer when he gets hit, but I cannot question this dude's selflessness.

Its easy to do when his wife makes his salary look like food stamps. I'm not saying he wouldn't do it if he wasn't married to Gisele, but I dont think money has been an issue for the Bundchens for quite a while.

yeah, but some are worse than others

Wes Welker for example throws his arms up any time he doesn't catch a ball. Every single fucking time he doesn't complete a catch he whines about it. It's annoying enough that I think they should lump it into unsportsmanlike conduct. If they see a penalty, they'll call it... throwing a tantrum isn't going to change what they saw.
 
If I was Brady, I'd play for free. This 'Peyton is better than Brady' bullshit (and bullshit it is) won't stop until Brady gets at least one more ring, and the freed up salary cap is the best way to guarantee it.

Who actually says that, or actually believes it? I like Peyton, seems like a good guy, but if the game matters I'd take at least 5 current QBs before Manning, including his little brother. And I'm thinking about Peyton in his prime, not what he is now. I actually think Peyton has never had the best team when he lost most of the big games, since those Colt teams were always flawed, but he does have an aura of panic about him. Brady is like a killer from a horror movie. Dont matter what you throw at him, he's gonna get your ass eventually.
 
IMHO, brady is definitely a better passer than PM, but peyton has better football acumen.

also, rings are mostly dependent on that "luck factor" and (I *believe*, this is not up for argument) - almost all of professional games that matter are fixed.

The only thing I like about the Niner's decision here, is that it is the first year that the Redskins aren't the dumbest organization in the league, despite their well-documented best efforts to keep that title.

Yeah, Harbaugh basically turned a shitty organization into one that demands excellence while also wanting more control. Instead of letting him do his thing and continue to get results, they tried to wrangle some control back.

Bold (but maybe not really) prediction for next year: Raiders end up with a better record than the 49ers. They sure seem to be on a better path.
 
Like i said yesterday, should have never gotten a suspension. At most a fine with a note saying even they an opposing payer may have cause you to lose you balance, you should have been more proactive once you realized you had stepped on something other than the turf to cease stepping on that object.

Then this morning I heard then the suspension specifically is judged without any past circumstances, so it was an absolute bullshit one and almost no other player of his ability would have been suspended for such a minor act as a first time occurrence. Now that I've heard it was reversed on appeal, that is the right decision and the NFL looks stupid for overreaching on the original decision.

Listening to some of the talk about the firings. Seems Woody decided his error was in getting a GM that didn't go along with the coach better (you could say it was in getting a bad gm). So this time he fired Rex even though given the resources Rex may have done a good job, and if the team had made it to just 8-8 he likely would have kept him anyway. So this time he did can both just to say he didn't do that again.

Seems raiders and falcons strong contenders for hiring him again.

If you don't understand why intentionally trying to injure players (who aren't even involved in the play anymore) is a lot worse than bagging an interview, I doubt anyone can explain it to you. 🙄
