I lucked out on NFLX, chickened out and sold 1/2 in the am and 1/2 in the pm before earnings were announced, felt like a fool after hours, but not so much the next day when they dropped like a rock.

Anyone think Apple might spike up a bit before earnings?

FMCC moving up all this week. Not sure how to play this. there's potential for large returns or the government might just close them.

Is this the time for AMD? The release of PS4 + Xbox next month will sure to stir up things. (Just sold all my ZNGA shares).

I'd say AMD is promising at the moment. A few weeks ago I bought at 3.75/s and sold at 4.00/s. Then after ER it dropped to $3.04. Its at $3.19 atm. It will creep back up. I went all in on AMD after the drop (not at $3.04 however, quite a bit higher, I anticipated the turn around a day earlier than it occurred.)

Note: AMD seems good LT (long term). I wouldn't expect much movement throughout the day. If you only plan to buy and hold for awhile, it may be a good buy. If you plan to day trade, there are other stocks better suited for a buy and dump. YHOO being one.

Another note: AMD is held by some large investment firms. Sometimes you get some wonky movement as they try to scare and bully people into selling, etc. So I'd only advise playing this stock if you know how to read charts and can anticipate their movements.

An ex apple exec, Sully interested in blackberry. Is that #6 that is interested in this dead company now?

Give it up dude.....you have been peddling BBRY here for 3 years now. There are endless posts from you which have only caused you to lose all credibility. They are almost funny to go back and read because of how wrong you were.

Anyone familiar with value investing would probably disagree.

If I put all my worth into bbry then sure. But I put about 15% in and lost about half. The loss balanced my previous gain in SD. Today I get to wait for SD to correct again. And bbry might go for more than $9/share. I prefer $teens or that it remain public.

I think we may have entered at the same day. I went all in after the ER drop @3.5x$. I'm thinking about getting another half as the price is low but ARNA may be a better choice. As mentioned previously, I dumped all my ZNGA (@3.78/s +11%). That was like a month ago. After hour today it jumped 12% after less than severe ER.

Anyone got any good sources sites for stocks?

I am using seekingalpha.com is my favorite. Looking for other sites similar.

Gurufocus.com

Value investing news. .... Google for the url

Seeking alpha sucks. Most of the utility is in the comments as posters there usually know more than article authors.

You don't know anything every other investor knows.

Point being, you have no competitive advantage in your knowledge unless you can deduce that people are simply ignoring jt.

Yes, the deal does wonders for revenues for AMD. I think that I read that each chip adds $30 in revenue. It's easy for anyone to estimate the future revenues due to next gen console sales. I think I estimated a 40% increase. Thing is, this took me about 5 minutes to reason when I did so a few weeks ago.

Hopefully the new sales turn AMD fcf positive. Assume that 20% of future revs are equal to fcf. What would that make AMD worth? Another easy calculation just to see how it relates to the current market cap. 2 weeks ago I shrugged my shoulders and moved on.

Do the same revs to fcf ballpark calc with SD which just ousted it's CEO for good reason.

Say a prayer for me, going to hold Tesla through earnings tonight, LOL

If you track VIN numbers of the S, production and sales were higher than forecast.

Seekingalpha has some pretty big sway. Many of their authors cause a stock to pop, or come crashing down.

You do have to weed out the good from the bad. There are those that write complete analysis and those that write a "feel good buy this stock because I want you to" piece.

Thanks for the gurufocus tip. It has a lot of good stats.

I often take a look at www.marketwatch.com and www.bloomberg.com for macro events. If you are into podcasts, I listen to www.thedisciplinedinvestor.com and www.stansberryradio.com. They cover mostly macro events but sometimes dig into individual stocks.

Do you subscribe to Gurufocus? Seems like a cool site.

Short answer is yes.

Long answer is, it is expensive. But, if you know about value investing and write good articles you can manage to get free subscriptions. Monish Pabrai is one famous investor I know to be a subscriber.

LOL, BB down 18% as the sale to Fairfax falls apart.

Wow, this is strange. Investing via convertable debt? BBRY has no debt and $2.5 billion in cash. Why is BBRY doing this? All it does is dilute shareholders and give Prem more ownership (theoretically) via convertable debt.

Going to take some time to see what the hell is going on here.

And ya, stock halted. Many will be happy to see Thorsten step down. I didn't think he did bad but I think his expertise are no longer valid as the company has been restructured. He did a good job at that.

I won't you if you don't pick on me ;-)

FWIW: Tesla is trading as though it is 2/3 the size of Ford. That's abit optimistic for a comapny that is more like Lotus than Ford.

At least BBRY has their software in Tesla's cars.
