Official 2013-2014 NBA Playoffs Thread

The Heat have been dominating the Nets. Anyone who says otherwise hasn't been watching the games. They also have been having great play from their bench, mostly due to Allen playing great. The games against the Nets started off close, but the Heat managed to maintain their pace the entire game and finish strong. That isn't a struggle.

I think this is going to be another Heat / Spurs match up in the finals. And, the Spurs just might have what it takes this time!

The Nets and Bobcats are two of the better defensive teams in the league so the Heat aren't/won't be blowing them out often. They both slow the pace so even a convincing victory won't have a large point differential. Don't confuse those two things with any Heat struggles.

The Heat may not be challenged in the East, but with a healthy Wade they wouldn't have much challenge if they were playing teams from the West. Which teams out West (including those already eliminated) can even think about slowing down the Heat offense? The West has better teams, clearly, but that doesn't mean they are on the level of the Heat irrespective of regular season record.

Heat have definitely been winning, but at the same time, how much have they been challenged thus far? Unless Indiana becomes fully functional again (and beats the Wizards, two big Ifs), I don't think there's really any competition on the same level as the Heat in the East this year. I like the Wizards, I just don't think they (or Wall) are consistent enough yet. I think either of them (and the Nets) can win a game or two but not the series.

Sweeping = less wear and tear. If the heat get to the finals in less than 14 games, and it looks likely, there's no real stopping them. We'll see how well the spurs are playing after a long series with OKC or LA...

I don't think the Clippers can stop the Spurs. If they beat OKC, I think it won't be a 7 game series against the Spurs. OKC has a much better match up though, and I think has a chance.

Sadly, I think both won't stand up against the Heat. Lebron and co. just continue to play better and better every year.

I live an hour from SA and I have to hear that sort of basketball analysis all the time around here. If I lived far away I might enjoy the Spurs, but anything Spurs related to me just reminds me of countless people who don't know the first thing about basketball and just go on and on and on about the Spurs.

I understand there will be homers for any team no matter where you are, but it seems the Spurs fans I run into daily have the least amount of real basketball knowledge out there. This is mildly amusing, at least, in the sense that the Spurs actually play intelligent basketball.

Houston has band wagoners? They've had popular players since the Dream that attracts fans. Maybe with their new resurgence, after Tracy McGrady left, they picked up some bandwagoners. But, they've always had players people rooted for. Olajuwon, Francis, McGrady.

I spent the first 22 years of my life in and around Houston. =)

The only team from there with bandwagoners is the Texans, and those are filled with people who fell off the one they hopped on in the 90s with the Cowboys.

The Spurs consistency is incredible, but I wouldn't call them a dynasty. They've never even won back to back titles. 3 in 5 years is close to being a dynasty, but not quite there.
