Bought more AMD today -- cost average down to $3.40. Let's go, earnings! Even at the very lowest end of the guidance, assuming GMs are in line, the company will turn an operating profit.

Seems you were right about not bottom yet. I would have thought support would have kicked in way before this. I guess the NAND shortage and management shakeup is making people nervous. Now it's just a waiting game, not sure I want to place any more money into OCZ not knowing when it might turn around.

I am just guessing. When OCZ dropped from $6 to $4, it dropped $0.20 each morning then stabilized the rest of the day, then dropped again the next morning. Institutions or a large number of people are selling each morning to get rid of it. It will keep dropping so long as people/institutions keep selling it each day, until they are done selling. (Of course, that is an obvious statement.)

AMD hit $3.22 as I was hoping it would cross $3.25 but then recovered. People have more faith in AMD than in OCZ. I did not purchase AMD, it happened too quickly and I was not certain $3.25 was the bottom either.

Good, you seem to do well with morning volatility.

EDIT:
I placed a limit market order for the next month for AMD at $3.25. I am automatically in if it drops again.

Not sure how hte timing of RIMMs jump yesterday worked out. But many "analysts" thought the subscriber base would drop the last quarter. Thorsten nipped that in the bud pretty quickly yesterday. Last quarter, 78 million subscribers. This quarter, 80 million. Stupid worl market screweing up analyst expectations. I am wondering if the BB store roll out in India made a positive inpact there.

The overall market is so shitty right now that I'm thinking about throwing a few k into RIM - "just in case". Looks like it's forming a base around the $6.20 mark, but I remember BAC forming a "base" around $9 or $10 before it went down to $5... Not sure I could stomach that.

Yeah making .80% in a savings account feels like nothing when you can make 5% on a good day in the market. We do need a correction though to get the market moving up again.

I want to open a savings account with my broker so I can park my horde of cash. Their rates are probablt around 1.05% or less though, and that's if you have more than $5k in there. Debit transactions would be $5 each, so eff that. Seriously, if I get one guess right, I can make 3% in a day or 5-10% in a week. And at least once or twice a year, it isn't hard to guess after a huge bout of overselling.

Just looked up RIM. Wow, up 7% today ontop of yesterday's 6% or so.

But earnings is 9/27/2012 - also known as tomorrow.

And if you're buying it on the NASDAQ, it's a Canadian based company, so you may be exposed to a lot of currency risk if our dollar tanks. Canada may or may not (my money is on definitely) have a bursting housing bubble and something like $500 billion in federally insured mortgages on less than $20 billion in assets.

Took a small fun sidebet. Long the Sept 28 weekly puts on RIMM for 8 cents a contract today.(Strike price 6)

Lets see what happens tonight, either they really mess up and I make money or I lose my entire small sidebet (24 contracts)

Ah, I gotta stop getting up at 1pm - I made it 2pm today because I slept at about 5am this morning.

Awww, my vacation's ending🙁.

HPQ going down the tubes, OCZ down of course but by now I think all the anandtech OCZ bulls have left the train a while back ago. Meg's online auction site skills should save the day at HPQ 🙂

nope, I never sold. Not sure how it got this far down. Don't expect it to turn around this next quarter though. All my picks have been doing bad though (GMCR & NVDA).

Meg is apthetic. She is rich because she got lucky to be put in a high up position early in a comapny's life. She is pathetic. Whoever would hire her to do anything but basic accoutning is a fool.

Just closed off some positions in ARR only to realize ex-div is in 6 days 🙁 Doh.

Sitting on about 30% cash now - think i'll sit on this for a while unless something really jumps out.

I purchased 1000 shares of AMD today at $3.19. I am finally comfortable with their price and now hope it does not drop more. :O

An article states to wait for the quarterly earnings announcement on October 18 but they just decreased prices on their graphics cards a second time in a short period. This shows they need more sales and I think the current quarter's predictable poor sales is already priced in.

Nope, I have about 20k shares worth of short puts. People buying 3 strike puts because ocz shares can't be borrowed. I don't mind synthetically buying ocz at 2.65-2.70. You could even sell the 3 oct put and buy the november 2$ put for extra protection. That assumes the 2$ put is 5c, I don't know exactly how much it is.

There are so many borrowed shares, absent any horrific news, the short covering will be brutal. This past week there has been large volume short covering towards the close. Whoever that is, its tactically smart.

aapl is toast

sell!!

If by "toast" you mean the bready stuff waiting for the jelly that the Apple lemming-zealots call the iPad Mini which is supposedly right around the corner to come out and be gobbled up by the welfare-check-wielding masses?

I think the word you're probably looking for is "buy".

OCZ, OCZ, OCZ when will you clean up your act? So it's down to $2 and I don't see it climbing back out this year. Well guess I'm really long now.

Please. I'd be surprised if OCZ hit $4. And even if it does, I don't really care. When it's sitting at $10-15/share, it won't matter that I didn't get the absolute bottom 🙂

Just had to dig this little nugget up. 🙂 All in good fun.

Pretty sure that we'll be hearing an announcement within the next week or two that OCZ is being acquired now.

Lalallala... Still sitting out. Wish I had a good saving's account that I could park my money in - more accurately, I wish I wasn't too lazy to just open the damn accounts at the bank.

Curious, what premium did you get what is the expiration for those short put. I am assuming you are okay with losing your entire 60K investment in the position.

Anyhow I am downgrading 12 month price target from 2.20 to .50 cents + delisting.

I feel bad for people who threw their entire nest egg or a good portion of it on this stock.
