I am paranoid. If I had applied this paranoia to the insane OCZ run up, I'd have made a whole lot of $ on it. C'est la vie.

So I bought some ATML today, small starting position @ $5.49. Any thoughts on this stock?

Up 5.7%!

seems no news is good news. Though when something bad comes out it's the end of the world.

Out of ATML for a 9% gain. I do not trust this rally. Although I am clinging on to my long position in MRVL for long term.

Looking for some nice market pullback to pick up some more long term investments -- including a larger position in ATML (at a better price).

KFN's dividend yield has just increased!! from $0.18/share to $0.21/share - 9.09% annual.

This stock has been an absolute goldmine for me right from the start.

Heh. Had 10k CHK yesterday.. got some at ~17.5 and sold at 18.3 like. haha suckers.. Now I have 2k.. and I feel silly. I still have some I purchased at 13.6.. Really tho, that could've gone either way.. BTW. Navistar calls are getting expensive.. and its up quite a bit. Cost on the small amount of shares I have is 21.73 - its 25.74 now.. Thats almost a 22% gain..

NXPI.. woohah..

Anyone not skeptical and speculating on a downturn go get some SOXS for the day/week.

Did you trade your 8,000 shares with an algo?

Wow am I glad I stayed with PWER. It was hovering around $4/share for months, despite positive signs, and is finally breaking out. Up 40% in 2 months, and had a huge earnings beat last week.

Are you being snarky again? Up 11.31% 10.5017 cost.. have a bunch of calls sold.. Volume is more on the call side. But up until the last minute, option 'reading' can be misleading..

I sold my NXPI.. and closed the short put.. We will meet again (maybe) NXPI.

BTW: Who else bought SAN at 4.98? That one snuck up real quick. Wish I kept more.

I still think about all those chart humping nubs on stocktwits saying that STX had seen weakness and they were shorting at 28.51 - poor tossers. You get somewhat of a new floor when the div is boosted that much.

MU is also doing well. Again, someone was buying puts on stocktwits.. so lets do the opposite.

Anyone who had the chance to buy SOXS at 32 as a semiconductor 'hedge'.. nice.. just don't hold it too long.

No not snarky, I just can see no 80 lots traded. So you must have a algoed as to not paint the tape...

Makes perfect sense.

The order book never had an open order for an 80 lot on the offer either.

If you want to play e peen at least make it believable. Do I think you traded off, 150k in notional single stock today. Not a chance...

100 lots start to get into the no fill conformation zone on the smaller platforms, so unless you have some sort of 9 figure institutional coverage it seems dubious, like the vast majority of stock twits that paper trade, the strategies don't work on the real world.

What was the net debit on your kcg puts as well?

8000 shares? Is what you're debating about?

Does that add up?

I don't have 8k CHK. I had 8k yesterday. Later I will do a snapshot of that, yeah? It'll take longer than just snapping a screenshot of my portfolio.. For the mean time I am going to take down that screen.

I have no idea how to follow what you are saying...

"Heh. Had 10k CHK yesterday.. got some at ~17.5 and sold at 18.3 like. haha suckers.. Now I have 2k.. and I feel silly. I still have some I purchased at 13.6.. Really tho, that could've gone either way.. "

You're talking net debits, shorting stocks that are impossible, strategies that have settlement issues, etc.

let me clarify..

During the day and mostly thru after hours (as earnings were released) I acquired 8500 shares of CHK at around 17.5 to add to my long term 1500.99 (.99 from a drip transaction). I sold during after hours.. the bulk of it.. at 18.30 - thinking I was a god damn evil genius. I was not. It was silly.

That last bit I don't really see where you're coming from with that. Shorting stocks that are impossible? But, I think the point you're trying to make is that I am out of my mind/wrong? Fair enough. I don't have the time to prove otherwise.

Because the shareholders would've had to vote on that - and KCG didn't have that long? I'm guessing..

So did anyone buy any shares of infamous dildomaker CHD?

I bought NOK at $1.70 and sold at $2.00 - its up to $2.60 today. Who would have thought it would go up a buck in under a month.

UGH!

Newb question I suppose...

I want to get started in trading/investing.

I don't have a ton of money at the moment, student loans and such are sucking about $1,500 a month. In the mean time, I would like to put a couple hundred in the market a month. Is this logical? I am thinking my trading fees would actually eat in to my gains with such little money.

Is that true? I want to dip my toe in the water and get used to how the mechanics work.

Any tips?

I have a lot of student loans as well but I'm not paying them down aggressively because the ROI (return on investment) is better w/ me putting the $ into the market.

Take this with a grain of salt as I trade/invest very aggressively (100% of portfolio is in micro - cap stocks).

With that said, if you are not comfortable with that, you can open up a small trading account and go to free training courses which are offered by most all larger commercial brokerages (TD Ameritrade, Scottrade, e-trade, etc.). Essentially a free way of learning the mechanics. Also, most firms offer free trades for a limited period of time.
